Can't speak english only write... - Silver Fang - Mar 22, 2016 I have no idea why, but it seems my talking skills in english has gone rockbottom... I can't debate or even speak in meanings any longer in english. I can only write... Is this common? * - Frono - Mar 22, 2016 Practice makes perfect dude. Keep working on it by talking to English speakers I'm sure that would help. Did it take long to write this? Your English seems to be good when written, well at least this did. * - Coton Pker - Mar 22, 2016 happens sometimes to people who're not born speaking english. it's easier to write things out for them because the structure is constant, whereas speech's structure changes. when short-hand language is thrown into the mix, it also tends to mess people up when trying to understand spoken words. especially when niggas speakin' some good ol' 'merican. * - Ooze - Mar 22, 2016 I don't think the problem is with english itself but just the fact that writing is fairly easier. I have the same problem, with my spanish and its normal due to my accent throwing me off. * - Silver Fang - Mar 22, 2016 (Mar 22, 2016 10:49 PM)Frono Wrote: Practice makes perfect dude. I'm trying to speak when playing games etc. But when it comes to debate or trying to speak in meanings I don't get the right words for it. However when writing it just comes natural... It's really annoying because whenever i try to debate or speak, just by listening to me people tend to think im stupid, 😠* - Coton Pker - Mar 22, 2016 (Mar 22, 2016 11:14 PM)Silver Fang Wrote: I'm trying to speak when playing games etc. But when it comes to debate or trying to speak in meanings I don't get the right words for it. I know, i shouldn't be that bad :'( * - Jolene - Mar 23, 2016 As an English teacher I can tell you that this is absolutely natural. Let's imagine you're 8 years old again and you are learning new things at school. Would it come easier to recite it all in front of some audience or would it be easier to sit down and note it down from your memory? :) It's a natural stage of learning the language. However, in order to develop your speaking skills, you should implement some speaking and listening activities. Depending on what you enjoy doing, listen to some English audio books, watch Ted Talks or movies in English. It would be a great idea to find some private teacher that specializes in communicative method and just meet him/her a few times purely for conversations. I don't always meet my students at home. Sometimes we go out for some tea/coffee, we go for walks or, sometimes, we even play video games. There is one rule: we can only speak English. I think it would work for you :) * - Silver Fang - Mar 24, 2016 (Mar 23, 2016 05:40 PM)Jolenem Wrote: As an English teacher I can tell you that this is absolutely natural. Even then it doesn't improve... I guess i have to speak only english i guess. * - Sashimi - Mar 24, 2016 The thing I always recommend to my ESL homies... they have to speak English on a daily basis. They need time to understand sarcasm. They need time to understand when people are genuinely interested in asking "How are you?" or when they're just trying trying to be polite. I still remember being a first grader, straight out of Korea, I came to Canada. Every recess, kids would go around to each other with their snacks saying things like "Can I have one?" or "Can I have some?" I then started to ask the other kids, and quickly began to understand that one only gives you one, and some implies more than one. Mimic. * - Silver Fang - Mar 24, 2016 (Mar 24, 2016 12:24 AM)Sashimi Wrote: The thing I always recommend to my ESL homies... they have to speak English on a daily basis. People of North Korea are forbidden to leave the country. The two Koreas share very little in common except blood. * - Silver Fang - Mar 24, 2016 (Mar 24, 2016 01:04 AM)Sashimi Wrote: South.
