Is lynda helpful? - xanaxboy - Apr 11, 2016

Just purchased lynda tutorials, is it worth it? Is it going to be helpful to become a l33t pr0gr4m3r?

Lynda is usually pretty good for learning programming, I guess it depends on your learning style.
For me it works great but, I cannot say the same for others.

They make some really high quality tutorials, but in my opinion, they don't go much in dept and not sure about others, but I find it hard to learn from some of their tutorials, as most of them require you to have some basic knowledge at first, you can't start learning if you don't have that knowledge, so they are not total beginner tutorials.

But maybe you'd find their way of teaching better. You should also checkout thenewboston's C++ tutorials, they are pretty good.

Sure
He doesn't even know what he's talking about

"do that and that"
Great for beginners

Just watched thenewboston's second C++ video.
Here are some notes:

Quote:- says you need to code at least 7 lines for a hello world program
- "just say its a preprocessor directive" but doesnt explain what it is
- says "using namespace std" includes a library
- says you need to include iostream but not why
- << = THE stream insertion operator???
- thinks if you have compile errors it never "gets" to the return statement to return the error code

Could be more but he said he will explain them later so I just trusted him.

Yeah you're right
