Coffee Detox - ArcticTundra - Apr 27, 2016 For a few years now, I've been a massive coffee addict. It might seem like a common, but I really have a problem. Last year, I drank 17 cups in an hour and had a caffeine overdose. Today, I need at least two cups or else I'll get a massive headache from withdrawal. I was able to quit for a month or so before, and my sleep was so much better. I've fallen into old habits again, unfortunately. I drink about 6 cups a day. I'm switching over to tea, so I'm not going completely cold turkey, but does anyone have any ideas how I can stick to my plan? I know I'll fall into old habits. * - Thomaz000 - Apr 27, 2016 Did you never hear of decaf? me too, i drink about six. decaf is good because u can mix 1/4 full with 3/4 decaf to slow down. i try to decaf every 2-4 weeks. If you still have trouble, switch to bottle of rum for a while. different situation but it usually gets me away from the coffee * - ArcticTundra - Apr 27, 2016 Yes, but decaf is not nearly as nice. But I suppose I could mix it with proper coffee and slowly reduce it over time. And switching to rum isn't going to help considering I can't drink alcohol for medical reasons. * - Overcome - Apr 27, 2016 (Apr 27, 2016 02:42 PM)¼ ζβοgotá † Wrote: Did you never hear of decaf? Alright, I definitely recommend making the switch to decaf, but swapping daily coffee to a daily bottle of rum is definitely not a good substitute lool * - Yous - Apr 28, 2016 Change is naturally difficult. Only very few people (usually ones with near death experiences) can go cold turkey. The best way is to introduce the changes slowly. If you're still getting headaches from withdrawal simply lower the dosage progressively over time. Also because you may be accustom the physical act of drinking the coffee switch between decaf and regular. 1 Regular > 1 Decaf > 1 Regular > 1 Decaf Start the first week by only allowing yourself 4 cups. Then the next week 3, and so on until you either get down comfortably to one/two per day. * - ArcticTundra - Apr 29, 2016 Seems like a plan. You'd think after my overdose, I wouldn't touch coffee again :P * - Dr. Gonzo - Apr 29, 2016 just ween yourself down. get down to two cups a day, then after a week make one of them half caf-half decaf. then after that make both of them decaf, then a week later make it just one full caf cup. then a week later make it one half-decaf. then go down to just drinking green tea. and you'll be off. |
