"Breaks Forum Rules" report reason - resent - May 15, 2016 It's fairly often that when I report a thread in a specific subforum for breaking that subforum's rules, that I get confused as to what the report reason should be; the reported thread generally doesn't match up to any of the report reasons provided and I end up choosing "Other". I think a "Breaks Forum Rules" reason would make things clearer for both users when they're reporting a thread, and staff when they're going through all of the reports and moderating them. * - 'Fry - May 15, 2016 I mean, it gets reported either way. Who cares at this point. "Breaks forum rules" is literally covering every issue. I think that would take away from the report system * - FamousHater - May 15, 2016 already been denied. no need for this as staff/admin will see the issue when u report it. * - resent - May 15, 2016 (May 15, 2016 04:47 PM)FamousHater Wrote: already been denied. what if the issue isn't clear to them when they check the report? * - 'Fry - May 15, 2016 (May 15, 2016 04:48 PM)Νeko Wrote: what if the issue isn't clear to them when they check the report? Just let staff do them. If it was an issue they would have fixed it. I would /thread at this point. * - FamousHater - May 15, 2016 (May 15, 2016 04:48 PM)Νeko Wrote: what if the issue isn't clear to them when they check the report? then probably shouldnt be on the staff team * - webdev77 - May 15, 2016 I believe choosing Other works in this case. I see your point though. For those who aren't clear, I believe the OP is saying breaking forum specific rules how there are rules listed in the lounge such as no forum games. * - Portugal - May 15, 2016 They will know because they are well-versed with the forum rules. I would imagine they would ask for help if they didn't know how to handle a report. * - Voxfames - May 15, 2016 (May 15, 2016 04:46 PM)Νeko Wrote: It's fairly often that when I report a thread in a specific subforum for breaking that subforum's rules, that I get confused as to what the report reason should be; the reported thread generally doesn't match up to any of the report reasons provided and I end up choosing "Other". I think a better option would be when you choose "other" it gives you a text box that you can attach a message to the report so the staff can see why you think it breaks the rules. For those of you saying staff can figure it out. Here is an example https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5267396 posted just a few days ago. got reported (dont know for what I didnt report it) but nothing happened the day after the report. Then the thread just got closed. If you look at the thread it seems like a news report but the link is a rick roll. No warning, no ban, no junking of the thread. Just a closure of the thread. Did the staff actually close it or the OP? Did the staff see the thread and click the link to know it was just a troll thread? I would like to believe trolling at least amounts to a warning. So the real question is did the staff actually see and follow through with the report. * - Bluffer - May 15, 2016 There is an option titled Other, use it. * - Xerotic - May 15, 2016 (May 15, 2016 04:48 PM)Νeko Wrote: what if the issue isn't clear to them when they check the report? That's exactly why you use "Other". Your suggestion is to rename "Other" to "Breaks Forum Rules", effectively. Default MyBB actually allows just a text input for it's post reports. Omni changed HF to have only a certain set of options. He doesn't want customized report messages (it slows down Staff). |
