files recovery after system recovery - Windows 10 - ThDodger - May 30, 2016 Hi Guys, yesterday i had to recover my windows, i've already setup a recovery usb before recovery i had 2 drivers : C , D i thought recovery won't affect D (where i store all my files) but after recovery i found only one driver : C .. with th whole size of Hard disk i need to recover those files on D i tried some recovery apps but didn't work, they only restore files which were on C originally ... Plz help me, it's URGENT * - datguy.dev - May 30, 2016 With Windows, certain restoration actions affect user data and some don't. You have to be careful. When you attempted to fix your install, what option did you use? (Refresh/Reset/Restore Point/Sys Image etc.) It sounds like you formatted your whole drive. Check the Disk Management Utility and see if you can find a partition which appears to be the same size as D: was. If you get lucky, perhaps all you need to do is assign a letter to the partition, which can be done using the CMD diskpart utility. * - ThDodger - May 30, 2016 (May 30, 2016 12:08 PM)datguy.dev Wrote: With Windows, certain restoration actions affect user data and some don't. Then "Choose an Option" screen. Clicked Troubleshoot and so on. I don't have any further suggestions because the partition is gone and you've tried software. The only other option I know of is to ship the drive off to a recovery specialist, which isn't much of an option honestly. Sorry. On this new install, take some time and setup backup & restore on a routine to a network location so this doesn't happen again. |
