Alright, so I've been working on this off and on for almost a year now. It's been through many ups and downs but I've finally settled on a theme, functionalities, and overall design of the site. What you see now when you visit the page now is truly a BETA. This is only a minor representation of what the finished product will be.

Currently there are only three manga's up for testing purposes, with the first chapter of each. Here are a couple of things the don't work atm:
  • Old School Manga Reader: The standard page by page traditional way to read manga. This isn't down technically, the option is just disabled for now.
  • Automatic Manga Scraper. Because who wants to add manga at home all alone (brrrr)
  • Awards for reading on the site tied in to the forums (Yes there will be a community platform too)


Things to add:
  • MAL Logins
  • Fixing Login/Registrations - fixed
  • SEO Friendly URL's
  • Splash Page (Its a standard ugly bootsrap login bleh)
  • More Manga!

But I'm curious to know what you guys think of it so far. Would you read manga in this fashion? Is there anything I can do to improve on it? I will take all suggestions seriously, but keep in mind that the goal is to present the online manga experience in way that more resembles reading a traditional page by page book!

Update! I've got a new domain name is OtakuDB expired. That was a pretty low level TLD anyways. I did some research and the top searched expired domain was RawManga.net! So guess what?! Now its mine. And soon to be yours too. :) I'm gonna hook everyone up in this forums anime community, I look forward to seeing yall around!  🤝

I don't read manga but the site looks amazing, love that you used a dark theme.
It won't let me read any chapters though, just displays this:

If you see that, then it means its loading. Some people with slower connections might not be able to use the new reader to its fullest potential. But I'm implementing a traditional page by page reader so that other people can still read the chapters. if you're in chrome you can press F12 to bring up the dev console, you should see a log on the bottom. It prints which images have loaded and which haven't yet. If you want to see the new reader give it some time to load. And of course I'll be decreasing this wait time as I continue to work on it!

Will you ever add a feature to just download the manga as a PDF or CBZ or something? That's the only feature I'm looking for in all these manga sites and I can't seem to find anything, always have to use a third-party downloader.

I like this, it is nice and clean and a very high quality website. Probably would be the best out there - the loading really is a down side but if you can get it a little bit faster and obviously more content I know you're adding then you may actually have the best site out there.

I actually like it a lot, doing most of my reading on my tablet but this could possibly make read more when I'm on the PC, good luck with your project.

I think the sidebar is a little big, you should be able to contract and expand it out with a button. On my large monitor it is a little annoying. I like the site though and will check it out when it releases.

It was my connection's fault after all. It loads up great on my second network and I've got to say, it looks great.
Some additions I think would be cool:
  • Full-screen mode
  • Integrate it with MyAnimeList somehow.
  • Autoscrolling/slideshow with adjustable timer.
  • Raw download option for registered users.

I will probably add that as a members only feature. The current javascript based reader will be members only as well and ofc signing up for an account will be free! :)

MAL logins would be awesome - especially if it tracked our progress like taiga does
Also; are you working on mobile use as well - because that would be primary for many people like myself
Also - make it clear that the bunny shaking it's ass is a loading screen; put like some cool retro loading gif in there too

Yes, MAL Logins will be a big part as well as automatic progress tracking. That's still later on the list though. And yes, there is a mobile theme on the way. I'm currently converting the base site to bootstrap in preparation for this.

don't like the side scroll too much even though it looks great. would be awesome if you can make an option to browse from top to bottom op, side scrolling reveals way too much of the content for me.

besides that everything looks awesome.

Don't worry, I know not all people will like it or shoot can even use it. But i will be making a top down scroll too. I have to make one for mobile devices anyway. Thanks Lyra :)
