Are Humble Bundle Gifts Disallowed (Since they result in a Steam Key)? - Crypto™ - Jul 28, 2016

I've got a bunch of Humble Bundle leftovers, and I wanted to a giveaway to give something back to the community that's honestly done so much for me, but I know Steam Gifts/Keys are banned. (Also, are they only banned from being sold, or are they banned from being given away as well? I'd assume both, but someone may correct me.)

Anyway, if I'm able to give them away, that'd be awesome. If not, oh well. They'll all find homes eventually.

Cheers.

Hey, if you're not allowed to give them away with an actual thread and stuff, I'll on the low take one.

If you're not allowed to give them away/sell them and you're flat out asking for one i'm pretty sure that will result in some sort of punishment.

I'm not flat out asking for one, but I see your point.

I think you can give url to item on your HB "inventory", and people can take it from there.

No, it is not allowed, whether you are giving them away or selling them.
Sadly that is just how it is. :(

This is what I was afraid of :/ Oh well. I'll probably put something together after my business trip. Maybe a scavenger hunt/capture the flag. I've been really itching to put together some challenges lately, since I've been hacking away at RingZer0Team/OverTheWire for a while.

This is what I was planning on doing, but I think it may still be disallowed since the end result is a Steam Gift. Will probably wait for staff confirmation, but my thoughts were that it'd be disallowed, but still worth checking.

The question is would it be okay if the HumbleBundle gift was only available DRM free through the HB website... Probably? Maybe? I don't know. o_O

They are not allowed since those are easily-cardable.

Fair enough. Though interestingly enough, HB has some fairly robust anti-Fraud protection. Not really related to if it should be allowed or not, but the developer article on it was pretty fascinating. I'm gonna go ahead and close this then, since the consensus seems to be not allowed.

Yeah, I see those too, but not too interested in toeing the line like that just for shits and giggles. :P There are other things I can do :)
