The great debate. Rei, Asuka or Misato? - Professor Pantsu - Aug 11, 2016
Perhaps one of the oldest ongoing best girl debates in anime, who do you prefer?
I can respect all choices but I've always been a Rei man myself. Something about her cold dead stare brings warmth to my heart (ironic right?) Perhaps it's because I can relate to her being a generally quiet and withdrawn person. Seeing a girl like her slowly show emotion and affection towards a person is one of the sweetest things ever in my opinion.
Please leave a comment on why you like your chosen girl, I feel like your preferred NGE girl can tell a lot about who you are.

Asuka seems to be the most lively out of the bunch, which makes me choose her.
Misato is lively too but not in the eccentric way that Asuka is.
Rei was okay character too but she was more on the boring side which was understandable due to her nature.
In the end they're all decent girls with their own personality. I may like Asuka's personality more but Rei is a cutie.

Hm, a hard one indeed.
I think I'd have to pick Rei for this one. While Asuka's actions are often considered a means of her trying to conceal her discontent with herself, Rei seems to have a dark, very much unknown undertone that we only really can begin to grasp as we progress through the series. I think that the fact that she must come to terms with the truth that we later find out in the anime makes her that much more mature but also pitiful. Misato I tend to see as the kinda crazy/irresponsible older sister type, but still manage to take control of a situation if deemed necessary.

The first time I watch an anime its pure enjoyment ;) But whenever I revisit an anime I like to look for what worked/didn't work, how they used the art, etc. to determine how effective it was. Helps especially on here when I make the discussion threads and make the 2-3 brief paragraphs "pitching" the series to other HFers ;)
