How to post personal pictures safely, and view information of pictures(Place, device) - Pharaoh1100 - Sep 4, 2016 Ever heard about the conspiracies from the sort of, "If I were to look in your Facebook profile, I could tell a lot about you, such as where you go often, what phone you have, and etc"? Yeah, this exists. It is not as complicated as you might think. And it is called exif (metadata) of pictures. Every advanced digital now-a-days camera stores this information within pictures. Even Apple products. You could post your pictures in your social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) safely by using a command called "Strip exif data". By having this fundamental knowledge, you could, of course, view metadata of pictures by yourself of your friends in Instagram, Facebook, and etc. You get the drift. Usually, when viewing exif data of an image, first of all, you could do it online by googling, and second of all, it gives you coordinates (Geotag) of the place where the person has made the picture. Your only job would be to google a site, from where you could view details about coordinates. Important note(s): - This would not exclude your picture from being looked-up in an image-reverse-searching engine - Technology is being developed constantly, and these tools cannot view a lot of updated information, unless a programmer chooses to help out, and implement development on these programs. With this, you should know that viewing an older image, or an image that is being created by an not-so-new device increases your chances of viewing information - Using a photographical-editing software such as PhotoScape, PhotoShop, and etc. would tarnish exif data from the image - This program is not going to affect the quality of your image. Your image will stay absolutely the same as from taken - If GPS-enabled camera or mobile phone was used, it increases your chance of viewing the Geotag - If the photo has filtering, doesn't matter, if it is applied through mobile applications, or computer-image-editing software, it again strips the data from an image
This is of the prologue. Now let's get to the action. The software I'd like to use before posting my pictures on-line is called "BatchPurifier". It is an off-line freeware and software, and it has UELA (End-User-License-Agreement). This means, that you are legally not allowed to re-sell this program, and something from the sort of it. You can find this program here: http://www.digitalconfidence.com/BPL-Using.html DigitalConfidence offers a huge variety of softwares and freewares regarding this sphere. On the first page in this site, you could see a slide-show, explaining the whole process of clearing exif data. * - ๖ۣۜDarky - Sep 4, 2016 Thank you very useful +1 for you * - Kroot - Sep 4, 2016 Thanks for the post Pharaoh. You made me double check my phone isn't putting geotag data in the images. Easy enough to turn off location services for most phones, but the damn Iphone prompts all the time to turn it back on, lol. Google directions "Do you want to turn on location services for easier route detection" NO. * - Pharaoh1100 - Sep 4, 2016 (Sep 4, 2016 11:03 AM)Kroot Wrote: Thanks for the post Pharaoh. Hahaha, yeah, iPhones are not famous for the security, but it wouldn't matter, if you aren't doing anything illegal, or you just don't want stalkers, iPhones are very great. If I were to choose between android and iOS, i'd definitely go for iOS, this is just my personal decision. * - Ventriloquism - Sep 4, 2016 Nice post man 🤝 Very cool. * - Pharaoh1100 - Sep 4, 2016 (Sep 4, 2016 11:11 AM)Ventriloquism Wrote: Nice post man 🤝 Very cool. I sincerely appreciate your effort which was put into making a post. A lot of users come and go, without at least thanking for the share of this information. I do have a lot more common-by-interest information that I could share, but I don't find the time as I'm engaged in a lot of daily-based arrangements which keep me very busy. It is not a popular subject, but I do think that it is important to know. By this, a lot of things might depend that might be crucial, such as having stalkers, or expand the information from doxing a concrete victim, and et cetera. It doesn't take a lot of effort to secure personal pictures. * - Pharaoh1100 - Sep 6, 2016 Be sure to leave a "Thank you" as appreciation. * - Kurdish Hack3R - Sep 6, 2016 thanks for sharing this usefully topics. |
