GFX Artist - Wide Awake - Sep 10, 2016 If you're a graphic designer would you consider yourself an artist? If so, why. * - Refusal - Sep 10, 2016 Yes. Depending on what type of graphics you produce. you are using creativity, and your skill set to make an attractive design. I consider that art * - cASTL - Sep 10, 2016 I am a newb when it comes to graphic designing so I wouldn't call my self a artist, but the professionals are artists in my eyes since they make real art. * - Wide Awake - Sep 10, 2016 (Sep 10, 2016 11:44 AM)Refusal Wrote: Yes. Even if you lets say are a graphic designer that creates by using pieces of other things to make something. like a logo or whatever. Still an artist? * - Pion - Sep 10, 2016 Because I did this, https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5401781&pid=52402113#pid52402113 * - JNeutron - Sep 10, 2016 I've been doing graphics since I was 14 for roughly 6 years now. I wish I went to school to study graphics design but honestly at this point it's safe to say that I know my way around Photoshop. Honestly, I still consider my self an amateur artist. I want to jump ship and get into Illustrator more, I've been trying to get into every year but something keeps pushing me away. My opinion on this, I hate went people label themselves "Graphics Designers", especially "Professional Graphics Designers" just because they've been dabbling with Photoshop for the past year. That title has to be earned, that title is proudly written to those who are actually passionate about what they are doing. * - BRΞNDΞN - Sep 10, 2016 Anything creative is art. Anything. But just because it is art, doesn't mean it is good. * - Rugaru - Sep 11, 2016 I could sneeze my shit out onto a canvas and call my self an artist. Anything that requires creativity is somewhat challenging for most people believe it or not. * - Wide Awake - Sep 12, 2016 (Sep 10, 2016 02:59 PM)JNeutron Wrote: I've been doing graphics since I was 14 for roughly 6 years now. At the same time i'm running my own branding service business. I find myself working more with photoshop than autocad. I guess it's because since im getting older perhaps architecture wasn't my main thing? idk idk.... it bothers me to be honest. I still want to work as an architect in a firm... but i want to run a successful business in the GFX/WEB DESIGN field. Yeah i agree, nowadays literally anything can be art. If you are famous enough then ppl will care otherwise, they won't give a sh!t. There is a famous artist i forgot his name.. he took a dump in a can and people went crazy for it... even to this day it still going around. The moment the can is opened it looses it value... * - Motusora - Sep 13, 2016 if you do graphic designs , then you're a graphic artist. * - Adobɘ - Sep 14, 2016 I think of myself as a graphic designer, I specialize in photo manipulation. I believe this because I will always try and find a way to use suggestions if I believe them to improve the piece. * - new0 - Sep 15, 2016 I personally consider myself a artist because in some ways it is the same thing has traditional art, sketching, painting, etc. * - divingtacos - Sep 19, 2016 Yeah for sure. It has similar training qualities to traditional art styles. Lots of time, practice and patience. And requires inspiration. * - bigboytobe - Oct 3, 2016 yea i consider myself to be an artist, i mean if someone drawing a big dot on a canvas can be a successful artist, why am i not to be considered an artist? |
