Yuck.exe keeps appearing after a certain install - Nevieth - Sep 16, 2016

Alright I'll keep this brief. I tried downloading a newer version of Photoshop from a certain site.

Well I wont go into details of that, but I believed it was trustworthy enough so I went through with it.

Once I launched the program it didn't even try to hide it. It started flashing my desktop and browser pages, and had installed a TON of malware and random ware programs. I've since then removed them but there's still one that I can't seem to shake. Yuck.exe. I have no idea why the hell it's named that nor do I know where the original file is located. Every time I go to Yuck.exe program location it directs me to some temporary version in my local folder. I delete it only to have a new one pop up immediately.

I'm going to be reinstalling my Chrome after this and a lot of other programs, just to keep things clean and un-infested. I'm contemplating a self ban soon but I have no reason to believe the person responsible for my little head ache even give a shit about HF.

Thankfully when it all started I didn't panic at all, I didn't even really waste time trying to close each newly installed popup, I crouched over to the side of my desk and just unplugged myself and forced myself offline. While I was offline the Yuck.exe program didn't popup, and everything went smoothly. I then ran an AVG and Norton scan along with a Root-kit scan just to be safe. So far 12 virus like files removed, but the yuck.exe is still popping up. It doesn't seem to do anything, and it's description in Task Manager is "Ping". All it does is play a clicking/ mouse pressing sound about twice a second and goes up to 50MB of RAM usage.

I'm not going to just ignore it's existence though. This is a file that insulted me. It insulted my mother. I want it gone.

sure thing , lmk if it helped : )

The first thing you should of scanned with is malwarebytes. Might want to consider formatting if that don't fix it.

Play it safe, back up what you need, format, reinstall operating system, best being safe than sorry.

I'm not used to this sort of thing so Malwarebytes never even dawned on me. I'm running a scan now with it.

Well shit it turns out Malwarebytes might've cooked this goose.

Fucking shit I'm dumb.

Really though it seems it found a previously unknown version of yuck.exe.

Seriously, who names this shit?

Completely erased Chrome from my PC, and forgot what a virus means, unless I download something extraordinarily stupid.
And not only that, it consumes insane amount of ram memory.
I am now using Mozilla Firefox, and can't complain.

I use Chrome for the basic browsing and shitposting, but Firefox nowadays for my main uses like banking and shit.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Chrome uses more ram cause it loads each tab as a new .exe for stability and performance. Firefox does all the tabs still in one .exe on your pc.

While chrome uses more ram it is more stable. Also, Mozilla firefox leaks memory since version 28 google it. As for the viruses the browser don't matter your antivirus and protection does.

That's also true.

No worries though dude as I said I use both browsers.

Chrome is just easier to shitpost with.
Oh and Malwarebytes seems to be catching yuck.exe every time it tries to create a new extension.

#WhenYou: contradict your argument
I said that Chrome uses a large amount of ram, and you confirmed it. I have no idea why you're trying to argue, lol
Never said that Chrome might be not so stable than Mozilla, but Mozilla beats Chrome in performance. I'm using a PC which specs are kind of low, and thus easier to analyze performance

I'm using the same antivirus from around 4 years, but the only difference, which fluctuates the fact of virus results is switching the browsers.
I had viruses with Chrome
I don't have viruses with Mozilla
I'm browsing the same sites, which I was browsing with Chrome.

I haven't tried that yet, no. Any direct links or is it easy to find with a simple Google search?

Malwarebytes is still finishing up it's scan, but it has been catching whenever a new alteration of Yuck.exe tries to popup. Something Norton and AVG failed to do.
