Can't log in, safe mode won't start, can't factory reset - UntoldMythical - Sep 24, 2016 Ok, so my PC won't let me log in, I've tried safe mode but I can't get into safe mode. No boot options, nothing. My BIOS doesn't have a factory reset option and I can't boot from disc. There will be a picture below of where the password box would be ![]() Anybody got any ideas? EDIT:Putting my computer onto legacy boot mode allows me to boot from CD, and I found a windows 10 home CD. No options worked, reset PC told me my drive was locked when I clicked keep files. There will be another edit soon. EDIT2: Ok, so it turned out I had a missing partition. I didn't see my SSD in the windows setup, so I had to use the CMD under the windows setup CD. At this point I had already tried Hirens boot CD that someone suggested after successfully booting from CD, I tried loading MiniXP but after getting past a few issues it just froze. Right now my PC is installing drivers, and I can't quite remember specifics, but it didn't let me install windows again under my SSD, as it had something to do with Windows would refuse to install on that type of partition. I managed to get around it by switching partition types with CMD. After that I was able to install Windows and use the PC as normal, except I had to keep my boot method on legacy to get windows to load, otherwise it would go straight to the BIOS. I've managed to fix my PC, thanks to all who replied! * - .eXe - Sep 24, 2016 Hold shift, click on the Power button (bottom right), while still holding shift click restart, wait until the troubleshoot menu comes up, either system restore or reinstall windows while choosing to keep your files and settings. * - UntoldMythical - Sep 24, 2016 (Sep 24, 2016 05:39 PM)Evil.eXe Wrote: Hold shift, click on the Power button (bottom right), while still holding shift click restart, wait until the troubleshoot menu comes up, either system restore or reinstall windows while choosing to keep your files and settings. I've already tried that, it didn't work :( * - .eXe - Sep 24, 2016 (Sep 24, 2016 05:41 PM)Radioactive Gunner Wrote: I've already tried that, it didn't work :( Ah, then we have a real problem. You could try something like Hirens bootCD to create a new user account and see if it get the login box to appear. * - UntoldMythical - Sep 24, 2016 (Sep 24, 2016 05:41 PM)Evil.eXe Wrote: Ah, then we have a real problem. Because that doesn't work either :/ * - .eXe - Sep 24, 2016 (Sep 24, 2016 05:44 PM)Radioactive Gunner Wrote: Would I have to select boot options? I can't boot from a CD You can do a clean install of Windows 10. Just install it on the same partition and it will create a .old windows folder where all your data will be stored. You can also pull drivers from the .old windows folder too. |
