Issue with my USB drive not formatting. - Mr. Robot - Sep 25, 2016

So my USB has decided it doesn't want to show up, I have checked the normal causes such as trying to reformat it in disk partition manager, tried on linux and tried changing the drive letter to no avail.

My beautiful 64gb usb wont work and can't find my other sticks right now.

I read a post around HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool, so tried it out and it reckons it's write protected but as far as I know, there isn't anything that would cause that.

Here's a lovely pic of my USB.

Hey man, sorry for the late reply, I've fucked up a few USB sticks in the past trying to burn Windows ISO's to them with USB to ISO. I use a program to fix them called GParted, it works 100% of the time if they aren't being recognised by Windows. Just search "fix usb with gparted" for a tutorial on how to use it so you don't mess stuff up.

GParted is bootable GPM (let's just call it an operating system for now) and just like Windows has to be ran from a boot drive and booted into. Theres another way to get it though without booting into it and it's through Ubuntu/Lubuntu Software Centre and it will run just like a program. Both of these versions are similar and if you're watching a tutorial on one of them you'll be able to work out what to do if you're using the other version.

Hope this helps 👍
