i was able to get access into someone's botnet i he was able to get many clients

GZ format is just a zip compressed file (GZ stand for GNU ZIP), similar as .rar .7z .tgz .zip etc
You can use 7zip to compress your file to a .gz

Of course spoofing is worth it. It's just hard to do it I guess.
