Dark Themes or Light Themes - SIM-1169085 - Sep 29, 2016

What do you guys enjoy more?

I might be looking to making a blog sort of site and cant decide on a dark or light theme.

I personally like dark themes it works with my eyes better.

But with that being said I think which type of theme you use depends solely on the niche.

I guess it all depends on the topic you're discussing. I like dark themes but some websites look good on white.

Never been a fan of light themes, most of the time they just make the structure look blocky.

* - Nevieth - Sep 29, 2016

I like light themes because they look welcoming and nicer, but dark themes are easier on the eyes.

I haven't really decided.

I would love some input on what I could "blog" about.

My main goal is to be unique (obviously) and I'm really into forums. I know alot about forums and some sort of forum news type thing would be cool but I feel like my audience would be so limited.

Well I prefer dark themes. But for marketing purposes I tend to prefer lighter themes as they look more transparent

I prefer dark themes. They fit for basically any sort of forum and are easy on the eyes. Just make sure you use the proper colors

light themes look more serious

This depends a hundred percent on use-case. A site like HF makes sense to apply a dark theme as hacking is a 'dark thing'. On the contrary, would an advertisement page of some new tech product not related to illegal stuff attract positive vibes in dark colors? I personally like light, clean websites a lot more since dark pages look chaotic more easily and I am all for minimalistic, easy-on-the-eye design but again, it's all about use case and proper application.

I tend to have a dilllema about choosing light and dark themes too, so I might just decide to let the user have the option of choosing

Give the user an option to trigger light theme or dark theme?

I guess I could try and do that.

I'm going to take multiple wordpress themes and merge them into one because I like certain features on some themes but I also dislike alot of the themes.

I would recommend going with a light (white) background for a blog site. At least where the text is.

Offer both choices, then everyone will love it.
