I own the XPS 15 since a week now and I can tell you these are very good laptops.

However, there seem to be problems with screen flickering etc. You will have to experiment with different combinations of drivers in order to fix the most annoying bugs.

But overall, they are very high quality laptops with great performance and the XPS 13 should have good battery life.

I don't know anout the Kaby lake refresh but I expect the same quality with maybe 5% increased performance/battery life.

Keep in mind that the keyboard doesn't have a lot of travel, if you are going to be typing constantly you might want to consider something with more key travel. I have no difficulty with mine though.

Do you have the touch screen version?

No, I own the FHD XPS 15

4K and touch is not worth it imo. (Glossy display, worse battery life, more expensive)

About to order the laptop. Can anyone think of anything better or is this the best option?

Obviously its not the best and its all personal preference

It all depends what you're going to use it for
