[Stop infections on members]Lets stop users from binding shit to our programs [Protect your programs] - Orgy - Jul 16, 2010

While thinking of shit to do for twBooter v3, I was worried the free version might get binded to some malware and then distributed by third parties trying to get infections.

Then I thought of a solution.

I thought that twBooter's initial security check could run an md5sum of itself, and if the md5sum doesn't match up, it could display a message such as:

THIS VERSION OF TWBOOTER IS BACKDOORED.
PLEASE VISIT THE HJT SECTION OF HACKFORUMS AND POST YOUR HJT LOGS TO CLEAN YOUR SYSTEM.
THEN PLEASE VISIT THIS LINK TO DOWNLOAD A CLEAN VERSION: http://linkhere

Now what if we all started doing this with all of our programs?

EDIT: I just thought of this, but this would also make it more difficult to crack.

Hackforums would be a much better, and much cleaner, place.

Good idea.

That's actually kinda smart. There wouldn't be a way to bypass it without the source, right.? It would be pretty damn hard to do it by hex editing.

I totally agree.. They'll do what-ever they can to out-smart us

You know, I didn't think of this before, but this would also make it more difficult to crack.

That's true. A patch wouldn't work because it would change the code, and the md5, thus it would fail the md5 check.
Your coming up with a lot of great ideas today orgy=D

Great idea dude. You might have just saved many computers with this idea. 🙂

* - Orgy - Jul 16, 2010

Hehe. Thanks :) I've finally had some time to myself to think after a few days.

* - MasterChafe - Jul 16, 2010

This is a good idea but the skids dude.... make it 120 second boot every 2 days

Lol wrong thread buddy. You meant the other one.

Woa man thats a pretty smart idea.Way to think outside the box.

This is a really good idea. This function could be seperated by a class so that it can't run another function too.
But, what if someone cracks the source and then they could cancel that part out. What really needs to be done is more awareness spread about the real MD5 and then people could manually check it.

Well if you protect your program enough, you shouldn't have to worry about it being canceled. But if they DID cancel that part out somehow, they'd probably not tell their victims about the MD5. Or if they did, they'd give them the wrong MD5

Great idea. It'd be nice if members weren't trying to cause harm to peers reaching towards a common goal.

People can still replicate the md5 checksum.

I remember when getting hacks for Gunz I always used a program that made the checksum the exact same as the original file so that the hack will work.

Also instead of finding an idea of making real money. Ppl apparently like to cause others misery with lame ddos tools that don't even benefit yourself.
