Nya.is Beta - Feedback wanted. - resent - Nov 7, 2016

Nya.is

Figured I'd showcase the beta of my new file host.

Some of you may know that I run Pomf.is, which is probably one of the slightly more popular file hosts, with ~20TB+ of content getting downloaded every month.

Basically, I hate the PHP backend that Pomf.is uses, so I wanted to rewrite it in a decent language, and that's how cpomf came to be.

Nya.is is running a beta version of cpomf, and I'm trialling it to see whether I end up moving Pomf.is to it.

Features:
  • User accounts - keep track of what you've uploaded. - file deletion is coming soon, just need to deal with cloudflare's api.

  • 100MB upload limit.

  • Unlimited uploads.

  • Continuous virus scans.

  • Unique UI.

  • ShareX config supplied, so you can upload directly to your account.

There's still a lot to come, but I'm liking it significantly more than Pomf.is' codebase.

All I can really say about the site is that the design doesn't fit with mobile, that's all I can really say about the site. Nice job though.

Will fix that soon!

As far as I know, most of my userbase is weebs.

Quote:Good job though.

Thanks :3

Quote:Oh and I don't know how your PHP backend looks but with HTML5 & PHP you can do amazing things.

I do PHP for a living and I hate it; PHP is a terrible language.

Vouch user is a huge lewd nerd. As always looks good and if I was into that I'd definitely use it.

Due to abuse; exe, cmd, scr, bat, vbs, and msi files are now blacklisted.

yep, will be doing so soon

new featured added today; potentially dangerous file types now receive a landing page that requires people to do a captcha; most media filetypes are not effected.

this should help prevent morons from using the site to spread their viruses and getting the site blacklisted

You've improved a lot since the last time I checked out your code.

Also, Crystal? Interesting. I've been meaning to try it (PHP -> Ruby -> Node convert here) but I'm not comfortable with the idea of running a production system on alpha-stage technology. Does this not bother you? Or has Crystal evolved enough?

When would that be?

It's stable enough to run on production; with tonnes of businesses already making the switch.

The only issue is that updates can break your code, but are usually easy to fix.

The website works great, can't really fault it; apart from when you upload the file and the background moves up and there is the link, I'd prefer it if I was given the link like bitly for example.

I do like the look of Crystal, I would at some point take the time to learn it.
