Jetbrains Releases "Rider" - A Cross Platform .NET IDE - Shoe - Nov 22, 2016

"What’s Rider?

Rider is a full featured, cross platform .NET IDE based on ReSharper and IntelliJ. The front end and user interface is built on the proven IntelliJ platform, just like WebStorm or IntelliJ IDEA, and can run on Windows, Linux and Mac. But the engine that drives all of your favourite JetBrains IDE features is ReSharper, running as an out of process language server."

Looks really nice, pretty damn promising.

How do you all feel? I think I'll give it a shot after this post.

Looks cool but they chose a terrible name for an IDE.

Agreed. Not a fan of the name. I'm honestly hoping they change it - it doesn't fit the naming scheme of their other IDEs.

The only thing leaving me stuck with VS is the designer... they don't seem to have it in their near plans :/ otherwise I would be getting the whole jetbrains arsenal

The designer is used for the .net WinForms components.
M$ will not open source those libraries, and thus, it can't be used in Rider.

What you can do however, is use the Qt libraries to create your UI (as in, Qt Creator) and then use those generated files in your project.
