[Ruby on Rails] Windows 10 Linux subsystem? - severos - Nov 27, 2016

I'm looking to do some RoR development, however I hate how annoying it is to run on a windows machine, after windows adding linux subsystem, I was wondering if someone out there have a full tutorial on how to integrate RubyMine IDE running on windows to use the linux shell, it's been hell long since I last installed ruby on a new machine (haven't touched installation files on my laptop for over 5 years...), so a fast revamp on best development installation would be awesome.

Thanks in advance.

Just save yourself the eventual self inflicted gun wound and use linux.

Most RoR developers I've talked to use OSX or Ubuntu. Rails on Windows is not a good idea.

This.

Set-up a VM if you really don't want to leave Windows.

I know Linux is way much easier and better for Rails development, but it's annoying to keep rebooting every time I want to make few edits on the script. That's why I'm trying to take advantage of the Linux subsystem, if I can install RoR on it and make RubyMine use it as the interpreter, then it'll be really helpful.
Using a VM isn't really helpful, it'll require too much resources, doubt my laptop will be able to handle them.

You have to verify with a credit card but it's very practical.

Not looking for online stuff as I don't have 24/7 access to internet. Thanks for the link though.
