Why is McAfee so hated? - Dr. House MD - Dec 22, 2016 Hi Just curious, as I have seen everyone here is hating on it. I got one year free license on McAfee Livesafe, but won't use it if it is that bad.. * - Inmodwetrust - Dec 22, 2016 * - Korvo - Dec 22, 2016 Well I don't like it because it's a resource hog, plus from what I've seen it doesn't have a good detection rate at all. I've worked on several computers that had mcafee & they were still badly infected. It's like a clingy ex-girlfriend, and very difficult to get rid off entirely. It's basically child's play to bypass it, and just overall completely worthless. That, and it nags you to absolutely no end. * - ZuGgY - Dec 22, 2016 (Dec 22, 2016 11:22 AM)Inmodwetrust Wrote: Yeah, I remember watching this...John is some character. OP, I actually don't really know. It's just annoying, shitty UI, bad detection rate (from what I've heard and remember)... * - Omniscient - Dec 23, 2016 That video is hilarious. I feel the same way about Norton products too. * - ♦ [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅1000)̲̅$̲̅] ♦ - Dec 23, 2016 (Dec 22, 2016 11:22 AM)Inmodwetrust Wrote: LMAO! I remember a time when McAfee was the recommended software though. Now it's just what these salesmen try and sell to you when you're buying a new computer, they act like an expert when it comes to infections but really they've no clue what they're talking about. 😠 * - Bluffer - Dec 23, 2016 It's a huge pain in the ass to remove I noticed and it would install on anyone's computer when they downloaded adobe a few years ago (well they could uncheck it but nobody would read that crap). Basically malware that pretends to be a malware remover. Garbage. * - NYCVN - Dec 23, 2016 It takes some extra usage, uninstalling is a bit tough & you always get those petty messages in the bottom right corner telling you to update your subscription, do a scan or whatever. * - Trappy - Dec 23, 2016 Never had the av always thought the founder was a little out of his mind though * - testpen101 - Dec 23, 2016 (Dec 22, 2016 11:22 AM)Inmodwetrust Wrote: Lmaoooooooooooo🤣🤣 Saw this a while back. * - FamousHater - Dec 23, 2016 (Dec 23, 2016 05:25 PM)Βluffer Wrote: It's a huge pain in the ass to remove I noticed and it would install on anyone's computer when they downloaded adobe a few years ago (well they could uncheck it but nobody would read that crap).this user still uses it he cant remove it * - Aura - Dec 23, 2016 We're talking about a company which predicts the downfall of ransomware in 2017. Clearly they're delusional. * - Dr. House MD - Dec 24, 2016 (Dec 23, 2016 09:51 PM)Aurа Wrote: We're talking about a company which predicts the downfall of ransomware in 2017. Clearly they're delusional. I know you know a lot about security, so would you mind recommending me a AV software (if no firewall in it, which would you recommend?) Paid or free is fine, as long as it's not very resource hungry, as I game quite a bit. :) Thanks in advance and merry christmas. |
