Best way to remain under the radar? Second pc or external hdd? - CyniczZ - Jan 5, 2017 Looking to remain under the radar for my legal adventures in testing. Ofcourse I'll only be using public WiFi through multiple offshore VPNs. (I know VPN jumping isn't really that safe but I have multiple lifelong subscriptions from when I gamed). My question is what's the safest way to run a secure machine for large RATs. I have 2 ideas but have questions on both. 1.buy a low end like 13.3" laptop that's purely for this purpose. If I went this route what specs would be needed? I figured like an i5, 128gb ssd, 4-8gb ram, and integrated graphics. I'm assuming the clients/servers don't require all that much resources to run but I would like to run a single virtual machine from time to time for testing. 2. Slap my extra 512gb ssd into an external 2.5" bay connected with either USB 3.0/usb type-c and install a bootable copy of Windows. If I did this would that keep ALL files including temp files off my main hdd in my laptop? Any other ideas, suggestions, or guides? * - Katarina Du Couteau - Jan 5, 2017 Dont use these old VPNs, you probably bought them with PP and they'll be useless. * - CyniczZ - Jan 5, 2017 (Jan 5, 2017 11:55 AM)Katarina Du Couteau Wrote: Dont use these old VPNs, you probably bought them with PP and they'll be useless. I buy everything online with prepaid Visa I get from down the road. However I likely won't use them was just kind of typing. Before I did anything I would look into private proxies and VPNs before connecting to the net. Was more just curious about the best way to go about the machine security itsself. Carry 2 laptops or an external ssd. Wouldn't bother me to carry 2 laptops just weighing my options on both routes * - Տnow - Jan 5, 2017 "Large rats" do you mean a botnet lol but a second pc not linked to you is probably your better option * - CyniczZ - Jan 5, 2017 (Jan 5, 2017 12:02 PM)Տnow Wrote: "Large rats" do you mean a botnet lol but a second pc not linked to you is probably your better option Yes, wasn't quite sure on acceptable terminology here :p That's kind of what I was thinking just if I could get away with a 30$ ssd cage that would be a little better than 300$ on a laptop haha. What kind of specs would be ideal? * - pop_shell - Jan 5, 2017 There's no need for you to worry about that 'radar' lol you'll be so far under nobody will care about you. Seriously. Nobody will care. I recommend you make more use out of your time. Sit down and learn a programming language in depth. Dive into security. Play some sports... Idk just stop playing with toys :) * - Levi - Jan 5, 2017 "Legal" adventures, riight. Use QubesOS or something rather than buying an entirely new machine. |
