Kali Linux' Capability? - Secluded - Jan 8, 2017

I've been researching more and more about Kali Linux and the tools it comes with.

Can anyone tell me what it's capable of doing in terms of hacking, cracking passwords, etc.

Also does anyone have a good resource for Kali Linux?

Thank you in advance. 🤝

I can show you some stuff one on one if you'd like.
If you already have Kali installed somewhere, just open the applications menu and go down the list. Most of them are organized by what they are for.

The official site groups each tool into categories and has descriptions for each tool itself.

I'm in the process of installing it on a second partition of my laptop's hard drive. Once I get it running I'll have a more thorough look. Anyways this is my first time using Linux, would you have a resource that can help me with Kali Linux?

If you are not familiar with linux at all then its not a distro for you. "Hacking is not getting done by itself no matter what distro u use. Its all down to your skills and any linux distro will do if you know what you are doing. Kali comes with many tools but you need to know how to use them to start with so i would recommend trying something like ubuntu first to get a grasp of linux basics.

Thank you for that, I have come across the official website but I didn't see any documentation. I'll take a look at it now. Once again, thank you. 🤝

You could try Cybrary.it

Probably, but I started with backtrack and eventually learned all I needed.

Oh backtrack lol good times.. i personally started with ubuntu and my first mission was to recover files from damaged hdd.. was fun and learned alot in the process. Then i moved on to backtrack and proceeded to crack wifis.. at the time you would still find random WEP APs .. It is possible to dive deep and learn but If op thinks the distro will make him a better hacker hes wrong.. he gotta understand how things work first, it will save him lots of time later on.

How dangerous can a knife get in the hands of someone that can barely hold a fork properly?

I just signed up for Cybrary.it, it looks really promising. Thank you very much for this! 🤝

I think I'll stick to Kali as my first distro.

The fact the the OP is capable of installing Kali on his own put him above the majority of the people who come to this forum. If you can show that you're already at least comfortable with task that would seem semi-advanced to the average user, I will help you.
But judging by your previous threads and posts, I think you need to learn a bit more about the fundamentals before you try hacking this way.

Sorry, but every time I do my time just ends up wasted. Prove me wrong if you can.

I've done a lot of research on Linux and I know my stuff. I've just never had time to get into it. Thus, I'm starting right now. I've managed to install Kali on a second partition on my MacBook Pro. I'm currently just obtaining the proper drivers. I don't think it will instantly make me into a hacker, and I understand there is a lot of learning to do. I'd thought I'd choose Kali Linux as my first distro so I can learn how to use the tools and Linux at the same time.
