Can not open GRUB bootloader - SocialKiller01 - Jan 14, 2017 Hello! I installed GRUB bootloader during the installation of Kali Linux. But when I boot my pc it automatically boots into Windows 8.1. Can someone help me to make the bootloader work? Thanks! * - Infamia - Jan 14, 2017 You're meant to modify your BIOS settings at start-up by pressing one of the function keys at the top of your keyboard and moving your USB/storage device to the top of your bootlist. * - SocialKiller01 - Jan 14, 2017 (Jan 14, 2017 02:06 PM)Infamia Wrote: You're meant to modify your BIOS settings at start-up by pressing one of the function keys at the top of your keyboard and moving your USB/storage device to the top of your bootlist. I did, still no succes. I read that I have to disable UEFI, but I can not do that in my BIOS. Any other way to do it? * - Infamia - Jan 14, 2017 (Jan 14, 2017 02:23 PM)SocialKiller01 Wrote: I did, still no succes. I read that I have to disable UEFI, but I can not do that in my BIOS. Any other way to do it? What did you use to add the GRUB loader to the USB? Did you use a main-stream tool like Rufus or YUMI? * - SocialKiller01 - Jan 14, 2017 (Jan 14, 2017 02:35 PM)Infamia Wrote: What did you use to add the GRUB loader to the USB? I installed it on my HDD. * - Infamia - Jan 14, 2017 (Jan 14, 2017 02:54 PM)SocialKiller01 Wrote: I think you misunderstood me. I did not install GRUB loader to a USB. I installed it on my HDD. Oh, then I'm sure that wouldn't work. How did you install Kali Linux then? * - SocialKiller01 - Jan 14, 2017 Graphical install on a new partition. At the end of the installation it let me install GRUB Bootloader, but it does not work. I tried to reinstall GRUB. no success. I've never tried that, why not just use a USB and download it to the hard-drive when you're installing Kali; then install the GRUB loader. * - SnoWHAX - Jan 14, 2017 you have to edit mbr as mbr is pointing to windows... |
