Need some help cleaning up my PC - GDUFF567 - Jan 25, 2017 MY PC TROUBLES Hi guys. I've had my PC for a couple of years now and after a fresh reinstall of windows last year it was working at optimum performance again. However recently things have not been right. Slower boot up times, weird freezing, some suspicious folders on the C:Drive, games taken a serious drop in fps and just general unstableness (I know that's not a word but let's roll with it). So I was wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks (programs, things, stuff) to help me get it back into working order again without another windows reinstall because let's face it nobody likes doing them. I look forward to hearing some suggestions and hopefully anybody else who has the same problems can come here for ideas :) Thanks in advance, GDUFF * - WLAN - Jan 25, 2017 I see that you have many issues simple factory reset works always * - Lib - Jan 25, 2017 You could spend a long time fixing these issues or you could just do a complete factory reset and freshen up your PC. It's also a good way to remove all of the crap files you don't use, Only install things you need & nothing more. If you're not up for that, then I'd check out a free app called CCleaner, Run some Anti-Malware and Anti-Virus scans and delete files you no longer use, run a Disk Defrag, and check out the Windows Memory Diagnostics utility. Let me know what you decide and I'll help you out if needed. * - bοxxy - Jan 25, 2017 If you don't want to Factory Reset, you can always look into ADWCleaner. Also what Psycho said as well. Doesn't hurt. I would just move everything you need to a hard drive, and wipe your PC. Feels so much better. * - ven0m - Jan 25, 2017 Are you infected or looking for a general performance enhancement of your PC? If latter, this thread is in the wrong section. * - GDUFF567 - Jan 25, 2017 (Jan 25, 2017 12:07 PM)Psчcho Wrote: You could spend a long time fixing these issues or you could just do a complete factory reset and freshen up your PC. Thanks for your response and for taking time to help me. I think i'm gonna try and do it without resetting and gonna take a look at some of the things you suggested. Thanks a lot One last question: Should I do windows updates? I turned them off and now I have 200 of them. Would it affect anything? THANKS AGAIN (Jan 25, 2017 12:08 PM)bοxxy Wrote: If you don't want to Factory Reset, you can always look into ADWCleaner. Thank you so much for taking time to respond. I'm gonna look into the software you suggested. If I make no head way in fixing the problem I'll just reset. Thanks again (Jan 25, 2017 12:12 PM)ven0m Wrote: Are you infected or looking for a general performance enhancement of your PC? If latter, this thread is in the wrong section. I suspect it could be malware as it's weird that it works then it stops. Could be hardware which I will have to look into. Thanks for your response * - Hackoo - Jan 25, 2017 Hi ✌ Download the last version of Malwarebytes (3.0.6.1469) and perform a scan and post its report ! * - klonerk - Jan 30, 2017 Have you cleaned your hardware? It may be overheating due to dust. |
