Need help in Opencart safely updation hosted on godaddy - X0236 - Jan 28, 2017 Hello Everyone .thank you so much for helping me on different tasks . I am planning to update my opencart i got from my friend it is hosted on godaddy .it is working fine .it is 1.5.x.how can i safely update my opencart to latest version without loosing my web data and after update it should be working fine like before .There was a text file about upgrade but i could understand . Best Regards * - ScreamX - Jan 28, 2017 With a quick Google search, I was able to find this: http://docs.opencart.com/upgrading/ I don't know much about OpenCart. However, if it's anything like WordPress you need to make sure any plugins or themes are available on the updated version. Again, if it's like WordPress you will be able to upgrade without loosing any data. * - ScreamX - Jan 29, 2017 (Jan 29, 2017 12:00 AM)Yani Wrote: To be honest, it would be better to simply start a second environment, install the latest version over there and then slowly port everything over. That way you already know it will work when you do the definite upgrade. But you aren't taking into account that he probably doesn't know how to login to his FTP server. It sounds like he had someone set this up for him, and burned a bridge. Now he needs help with all of it. * - X0236 - Jan 29, 2017 (Jan 29, 2017 12:34 AM)Yani Wrote: Well that's just speculation. Yea i know it is easy when you just have default e-store what if there are modifications in your web or estore like new pages images ,hope you understand what i am trying to say .Then in that scenerio Extracting latest update package of open cart in root of public_html Deleting config file from admin and root of opencart folder and coping upload folder in the hosted store's public_html/website . After that what else i need to do . Www.site.com/install ?? Or before that i have to make coding related changes .or after installation/upgrade we will change the theme . * - X0236 - Jan 29, 2017 (Jan 29, 2017 03:11 AM)Yani Wrote: Good luck getting somebody to help you as I have no idea what you're saying, nor do I know how the software works.
