Reduce file size of images (bulk)? - N1l0c - Feb 11, 2017

Hey HF,

I'm going to host a website with about 25k images, and about 100 are being displayed at one time. Now I need to reduce their file size to minimize the load time.

Do you have any suggestions on how to do so on every image automatically? (not one by one)

I appreciate every help! 🤝

What do you mean with quote"NOT ONE BY ONE"end quote ?

if you want to minimize each image you need to do that with a foreach loop or while loop for each image, you need to compress them, their are tons of php libarys that do this for you, just google it bro.

- TinyPNG has a drag & drop feature to let you do multiple. Without pro you can only upload below 5MB pictures.
- If the site is on WordPress the WP-Smush It plugin can compress images for you.
- PHP Librarys as suggested by wanbetaler
- Implement a lazy load feature

Depends whether the job is users uploading the images or you/admin.

In case anyone is interested in doing it offline, consider Image resizer for windows. Select, right click, pick options, and that's it.

If you don't bother downloading and uploading, then IrfanView is also a good option. Also depending on the size and amount of images it may take longer to write the script and execute it.

You could use Automate Tasks in Photoshop to cycle through all the images and batch-process their posterization individually.

Might take a while, but it would work.
