When does consciousness begin? - Яǝʌǝɹsǝ - Feb 16, 2017

Simple question.

When does consciousness begin?

Define conscious?
Like, are we conscious when we're a fetus? I think so

* - Λndrew - Feb 16, 2017

I think it starts at birth mate

Do you remember coming out of the womb? You were alive but not conscious.

But you were. You are aware of what is around you, what is touching you, you can cry, you are basically responding to coming out of a pussy. If you don't remember than that is simply memory.

Around 2 or 3 when you begin to remember things and understand

* - Obli - Feb 16, 2017

The question is; when do we start remembering?

Kind of what I was thinking.

As far as back as you can remember is when.

yeah for sure,

if you unconscious such as in an operation then you don't remember nor understand it.

But memory and unconsciousness are both different things. Conciousness is being aware of what is around you and being able to respond. Memory is remembering what happened. If you can feel it and respond then you are concious. Nothing less, nothing more.

Well, I often get very vivid flashbacks of me playing NES in the womb while sipping on some mild beer, so I suppose it starts before you pop out.

* - bk randy - Feb 16, 2017

Like I said. Memory starts in the fetus
Although you might not remember it.

How can you prove this?

I still have the couch I used to chill out on during my time in the womb. It's still wet.

I'd assume that it begins once you are able to react to the world around you.
