FileNinja - File/Folder Encrypter - Decim - Feb 20, 2017 FileNinja Wrote this for personal use, wanted to encrypt some photos/text documents. Won't work with very large files right now. ![]() ![]() Source - https://github.com/arcanecfg/FileNinja Drop suggestions and improvements below, thanks. - A * - Zilog80 - Feb 20, 2017 Waiting for Ninja reply 🤣 * - .cYRil. - Feb 20, 2017 (Feb 20, 2017 12:05 PM)Zilog80 Wrote: Waiting for Ninja reply 🤣 Exactly , lol. * - Decim - Feb 21, 2017 Thanks for the constructive comments. * - WingsOfAltair - Feb 21, 2017 This is actually pretty good and could be useful at certain points, in my opinion that is. Good job. * - jujuger - Feb 21, 2017 AES.Mode = CipherMode.ECB; OP you just dun goofed cryptographically speaking. Electronic Code Book is a broken Stream Cipher Blocks of identical text are encrypted identically. (Yes, this is bad extremely bad) With ECB, the text "chocolate" would always gets encrypted to "sjkskhbqp". So if your plaintext was "I eat chocolate I like chocolate" it would get encrypted to "O pbq sjkafhbqp O hoxp sjkafhbqp" see the problem? http://crypto.stackexchange.com/questions/20941/why-shouldnt-i-use-ecb-encryption To be blunt, since you are using ECB, OP, your encryption program is completely broken. Use CTR mode or CBC mode instead of ECB * - Decim - Feb 22, 2017 (Feb 21, 2017 12:14 PM)jujuger Wrote: AES.Mode = CipherMode.ECB; Thanks for that piece of info. But I just quickly tested it again and that doesn't seem to be the case. Try it out yourself and let me know? * - jujuger - Feb 22, 2017 (Feb 22, 2017 01:48 PM)+Arcane Wrote: Thanks for that piece of info. It isn't a problem with code in .NET or C# it is a problem with security * - Decim - Feb 22, 2017 (Feb 22, 2017 04:06 PM)jujuger Wrote: It isn't a problem with code in .NET or C# I understand what you're saying. But if that's the case, shouldn't encrypting two simple plain text files containing a few identical words with the same key result in their corresponding ciphertexts looking similar? Is that not what makes it semantically insecure? * - TheRealDykeGamer - Jun 4, 2017 This program is very useful, I'ved used it and had no problems with it! * - Dotexe - Jun 4, 2017 Thank you for that Arcane. * - Ninja - Jun 4, 2017 You'll hear from my lawyer soon. * - StaticCG - Jun 4, 2017 (Jun 4, 2017 10:09 AM)Ninja Wrote: You'll hear from my lawyer soon. 🤣 On the real, great application :) * - Alone. - Jun 5, 2017 Nice release, Its an useful share. * - HUDCO - Jun 5, 2017 (Jun 4, 2017 10:09 AM)Ninja Wrote: You'll hear from my lawyer soon.Thats a nice one. |
