Gigabyte Motherboard for first custom build?? - 41phafr34k - Feb 21, 2017 Gigabyte GA-H110M-A LGA1151 Intel H110 Micro ATX DDR4 Motherboard What do you guys think of the above motherboard being used for my first custom PC build. It looks to me like it can handle intel i4- i7 i believe. and I am pretty sure it can handle AMD and Nvidia gpus and that is my plan to put a strong cpu and gpu so I can do some small hash cracking with it, nothing outrageous but basically want to build a high-end gaming pc/low-end hash cracking pc. Whats your thoughts on this motherboard? * - Gt403cyl - Feb 21, 2017 There is no i4.... basically your CPU options are (high end): i3-6100 i5-6500 i7-6700 Any GPU will be fine. * - ghost_486 - Feb 21, 2017 Its a mini size mobo so imho it sucks lol, go full size bro ;) * - Manks - Feb 21, 2017 (Feb 21, 2017 10:54 AM)41phafr34k Wrote: Gigabyte GA-H110M-A LGA1151 Intel H110 Micro ATX DDR4 Motherboard (Feb 21, 2017 10:54 AM)41phafr34k Wrote: I can do some small hash cracking with it, You define skid * - 41phafr34k - Feb 21, 2017 (Feb 21, 2017 11:00 AM)Gt403cyl Wrote: There is no i4.... Thanks, I appreciate the response. i4 was a typo i just missed the 3 key lol *face palm (Feb 21, 2017 11:06 AM)ghost_486 Wrote: Its a mini size mobo so imho it sucks lol, go full size bro ;) Only reason I was thinking about grabbing this one was due to its price. I can get it real low to have it shipped to me, and I don't want to throw to much money into my first build, I am bouned to do something wrong in the first run so I plan to keep it reasonable. Most modern boards are good for up to 32/64MB ram so plent there, only X99 can run Quad channel anyways... SLi in a smaller build is dumb anyways. * - ghost_486 - Feb 21, 2017 Ya but mATX you just can't add hardware to em, just adding a sound card to one and a video card and its over, just not my thing. * - webdev77 - Feb 21, 2017 (Feb 21, 2017 12:31 PM)ghost_486 Wrote: Ya but mATX you just can't add hardware to em, just adding a sound card to one and a video card and its over, just not my thing. Empty slots are pointless. How many pci-e cards do you even have? * - ghost_486 - Feb 21, 2017 Depends on the computer~got piles in stock. I have one mobo that every slot is a lan card to give you an idea, messed arond with it at one point trying to use it as a network switch of sorts. * - Gt403cyl - Feb 21, 2017 (Feb 21, 2017 12:37 PM)ghost_486 Wrote: Depends on the computer~got piles in stock. Point in-case. Just as with any PC build, there is a purpose, you select the components based on the needs of the build. If OP only needs 1 PCI-e slot then paying more for empty slots is a waste. Not saying 1 slot is what the board has, just making a point. * - bοxxy - Feb 21, 2017 If you're cracking a lot, you'll want to make sure you get a nice CPU with at LEAST quad-core. I personally wouldn't go under 4.0GHz Clock Speed, but 3.5GHz is fine if you want to OC. * - 41phafr34k - Feb 21, 2017 (Feb 21, 2017 01:15 PM)bοxxy Wrote: If you're cracking a lot, you'll want to make sure you get a nice CPU with at LEAST quad-core. Thats one of the many reasons I am going ahead with this build. I have a bare-ass laptop that is useless to run hashcat/pyrit/aircrack on. So yeah a high-end CPU and graphics card is a must. Only thing is I am not sure whether or not to get a board capable of handling multiple cards. I'm trying to break down the entire process, piece by piece before I started getting parts. Damn income is limiting me hard. Would be nice to just walk into a warehouse, grab the best motherboard then get the compatible hardware all at once but not in my life (n) I have decided to not get this one but there are a few other gigabyte motherboards on amazon that can ship to me that arn't overseas, wouldnt wanna ship a motherboard that far, to much room for error. * - ghost_486 - Feb 21, 2017 Quote:Point in-case. True but you don't know what you'll need the computer to do down the road or what the next person needs it for if the mobo is sold used years later and with no slots to upgrade the computer upgrades down the road in the way of add on cards will never be a option, following your logic it still makes sense to buy AMD AM3+ FX cpus mobos/systems seeing as once the system is made upgrading isn't needed or wanted fooling your Point in-case and a FX 6300 cpu for the price is still decent for what it is though as we all know once you go their your options for changing "upgrades" become limited when it comes to the cpu and its for this reason that my self i all ways like to leave the door open on this topic so if and when down the road if i want i can vs can't when it comes to upgrades, its like a gun when going in to the woods, rather have one and not need it then need it and not have one if i get attacked by space aliens. You just never know 🤫 * - Gt403cyl - Feb 21, 2017 (Feb 21, 2017 05:32 PM)ghost_486 Wrote: True but you don't know what you'll need the computer to do down the road or what the next person needs it for if the mobo is sold used years later and with no slots to upgrade the computer upgrades down the road in the way of add on cards will never be a option, following your logic it still makes sense to buy AMD AM3+ FX cpus mobos/systems seeing as once the system is made upgrading isn't needed or wanted fooling your Point in-case and a FX 6300 cpu for the price is still decent for what it is though as we all know once you go their your options for changing "upgrades" become limited when it comes to the cpu and its for this reason that my self i all ways like to leave the door open on this topic so if and when down the road if i want i can vs can't when it comes to upgrades, its like a gun when going in to the woods, rather have one and not need it then need it and not have one if i get attacked by space aliens. You don't know if you will be killed in a car crash tomorrow either. You don't know what you don't know until you know you don't know it. * - 41phafr34k - Feb 21, 2017 (Feb 21, 2017 05:34 PM)Gt403cyl Wrote: You don't know if you will be killed in a car crash tomorrow either.
