Black and white stripes flickering laptop screen. - Saint - Feb 23, 2017

So i noticed when i started up my laptop and its logged in that it flickers a white and black stripes kind of thing at the top of the screen from left to right, this occurs 1 or 2 times and then it stops for as long as the laptop is on.. any ideas?

Maybe the graphics card is about to go out. How old is the laptop? When you move the screen up or down while it's on does it do it? Specs?

Well it's an old laptop so it has no GPU other then the intergrated one.

And moving the screen does not cause it, it's pure on startup.

Specs i don't know right now as i'm not at home.

The onboard graphics could still possibly go out. Do you have spare hard drives? Was gonna say if you have a spare HD you can try installing a OS on it then see if it does it on that one. Lemme kno the specs and OS it's running on when you get a chance.

Does it occur when waking from sleep or hibernation?

See if the problem occurs with an external monitor connected. If so, than it's surely a GPU related problem. If not, you can try the usual updating/reinstalling your gfx drivers. Try using the previous version. Try a different resolution and refresh rate. Try Linux. Try a spare PSU. None may work, but at least you'll know the state of things. Now would be a good time to sell it used because there is promise of repair. Just play stupid. :D

Have not tried it when waking up from sleep or hibernation.

And i might just get a new laptop and use this one as storage/spam laptop.
