HackForums Username Checker - hunter24957 - Mar 3, 2017

Hey HackForums, here's the basic source code of something I've been working on for the past few days. It's basically a mass username checker for HackForums usernames, this is just the bare-bones of what I'm currently working on but I thought I may as well release it because it may save people some time if they ever decide they need something like this or would like a cool OG username. Obviously you'd need to add stuff to it to make it more personalized; for instance the source code here can only import a username list but it won't be hard to get it to, lets say, generate usernames. My personal one is a lot more complete/complex and uses PyQt as it's GUI; I've been thinking about releasing it but I've still got a lot more debugging to do, give me a shout if you'd like to take a look at the source code. This has been wrote in Python 3.6 and is using the Requests, BeautifulSoup and time modules.

one of these for something like Instagram. It is still really really cool though man.

Thanks man, yeah it was just a challenge I set myself since usernames are not displayed in the URL. I'm definitely considering making a variation of this for a social network of some sort. 🤝

I think people would use this if it were a web client of some sort rather than an executable file. Just my 2 cents, pretty neat program.

Is your gui one going to be made in Python as well or are you using something different for it?

Yep 100% Python, well it's going to be built with PyQt but that's still Python, hopefully it's going to have a lot more features as well. If I get around to finishing it in the near future I'll probably post it here. Have fun with the source!

You're not allowed to make anything that interacts with Hackforums at this time. Good idea but not for this site unfortunately.

Yeah thought so, that's unfortunate. I mean it's not causing any harm and can lead to people using more memorable usernames if they so choose. Tbf I really don't see anything wrong. If I released a web based exploit then that would probably be pushing it. If the admin so chooses he can remove this.

It's not necessarily causing more harm but it's causing more web requests than needed.

With DJango would you be able to port your already made project online? Or would you have to recode it?
