LBRY credits (LBC) - Decentralized digital marketplace & Streaming platform - FaberCastell - Mar 22, 2017

UPDATE: you can now try the app yourself, it's not officially in open beta yet, because they are looking for feedback first and if it goes well, the open beta will be there soon.
Download the app from github(latest release):
https://github.com/lbryio/lbry-app/releases

What is LBRY
  • decentralized digital library controlled by the community

LBRY is basically a protocol. On it you can host any kind of digital files, whether is it videos, pictures, pdfs or any other files. Anyone can use the protocol and develop their own platform out of it. That is the original idea, get the community to participate and create decentralized version of Themeforest, Youtube, Netflix, Stock photos and so on. No third parties taking cut anymore. Hosted on decentralized network, owned by nobody and everybody. No censorship.

Their platform is already fully working and on it you can host pretty much all kind of videos - it's a digital marketplace. You can post your ebooks, PDFs, perhaps your nudes, or whatever is it. If the content is paid, the user will automatically get it once paid for and you will be paid without any intermediaries! All of this is already functional and on top of that you can stream videos instantly on the platform!

The company though is creating their first Desktop app themself meant for viewing videos - Lbry, which is available to close beta users already, so they already have a working prototype(contrary to 90% of other coins). You can watch videos, view pictures, sell your own content, whether is it Pictures, videos or whatever is it. You can set your content to be free or require a payment for it to be watched. Ofcourse the app is still in closed beta and there are bugs, but you can check out their Github, they are pushing updates constantly - it's a company that employs around 10 people i believe and has an office in Boston.

Investment firm Pillar raised 500k$ to fund the LBRY. http://pillar.vc/co-founders/

Personally i hold around 65k LBRY credits at the moment because i believe in the project. Or atleast in terms of the current marketcap being severely undervalued compared to other coins and the risk-reward ratio being worth it.
Best case scenario would be if it became a hype like Digibyte and Siacoin - BUT i don't know if that is possible in reality, so i would REALLY like your guys oppinion on the project and i'm giving you 20 LBC each day for it, because i want the feedback!

Anyways to sum it up, please do not invest into LBRY because i told you to do so, i'm just bringing you the project forward and you should make your own decision.

I must say, i am surprised how nobody is intrested 😧

I think it's one of the best opportunities out right now.

Downside though, the company keeps 400M coins, but i guess they want the reward if this turns out big. Also there is a competitior trying to do the same called "Decent". Not sure which one is step ahead but i think it's going to be LBRY, they are about to launch in April allegedly. One will have to take the place though.

A bad title gains no attraction.
LBRY and LBC are things people haven't heard of.

Volume is increasing. Early access is supposed to come out this month. You can already download their platform from Github prior to the release.

Is anyone else on this one already, if so when do you plan to cashout?

Yeah well, the problem i see with Hackforums "investors" is they buy the coin when it's getting pumped already... I am not here to spoonfeed. The coins that i think are interesting, i post a thread and let the others investigate and make the decision themselves. That's what i wish others would do , so i could notice coins with potential when they are still extremely cheap and there is a lot of place for expansion.

I bought some just now, because it looks pretty exciting.
Just a small amount tho.
Hopefully these 358 coins wil lbe worth something someday :P

Hey mate, can you offer me any good place to buy BTC with Visa, except coinbase. They have problems with my card atm lel, 3D code box doesn't seem to load, soo the purchase would finish.

I'm looking for a good place with low tax's or PayPal. Here, no one would like to deal with me since low repo. 🤝

Well, you don't need to log in to check the exchanges but:

are you still having the issue? Is it the 5 second check where it gets stuck? I got stuck there about 20 minutes ago but refreshing the page solved it.

Updated the OP with picture of the platform.

The current market cap is under 6M$. I think there is a lot of potential and could expend by a lot. It seems one of those coins that haven't been massively hopped on yet.

HOWEVER the problem is;
High inflation (240k LBRY credits per day - around 13 BTC, and it's decreasing pretty slowly)
Huge premine - there were 400M coins premined, however the majority is meant for the adoption (you get some credits for free), and they will not be released at once, most likely it will take years if not decades. The developer fund is 40M coins, but they are funded at the moment for another half year or so

I think it still has space to rise, but i would like to hear others people oppinions as well.

It has high inflation in order to keep the price steady & low (means investors that hop on early can hoard many coins for little price) before any actual news come out and hype train leaves the station. The price has been increasing this past year even with 240k new LBC introduced daily, so that shouldn't be a problem when more people start using it after it's launched publicly and pr actions are made. You're 100% correct that it's one of those coins that haven't been massively hopped on yet, but after a couple of months i wouldn't be surprised.

Premines are as follows:
200 mill for adoption to new users
100 mill for operational costs and profits to developers through at least 20 years.
100 mill for strategic partners

The platform itself has huge potential, especially when we consider the fact that youtube has been making some questionable decisions lately which could lead to content creators moving on to a better platform like this. The protocol can be used for other digital stuff as well; You want a photo? Go to lbry, buy it and use it.

I'm telling you guys, buy as much as you can now while it's still cheap and thank me later, or now by sending me some lbry here: bUFRdkb5s4GcDXxER2fHE3ZyQSmxMRY7h3

I also heard a little bird sing that you can have a chance of testing the closed beta (where you can get around 100 lbc for free) by going to their slack channel and messaging an admin with a request for an invite & your email.

Concept seems very interesting gona look into it. I like it

* - FaberCastell - May 7, 2017

I was hesitating whether to cash out or not but decided not to.

I think the chances for this to go up are like 70% and it seems to be worth the risk.

Lbry is more than just an app, it's a protocol. Other developers can integrate and create their own youtube-alike website with videos hosted on Lbry protocol, it could be another app store, stock photos, basically anything... Well i'm taking the risk with this one
