Does anyone here have a list of anime that they watched but the author never officially finished the story?
I can name a few:
1. Hunter x Hunter - They got past the Ant arc in the remastered 2011 version. The manga continued even after that where the 12 Zodiacs are going to the dark continent. The mangaka is still not finished and new chapters haven't come out for months.
2. Air Gear - This was one of the coolest anime with a great soundtrack. The manga kept going even though the anime stopped. After a while, even the manga stopped.
3. Death Note - This was a great anime. They did try to make some sequels, but there are many things still unanswered and the story is not yet finished. Some live-action movies came out which became sequels.

I would say Berserk, however atm the manga just picked up again so technically I cannot use it here ;)
A few others to name I would say would probably be Elfen Lied, Inuyasha, Neon Genesis Evangelion (before End of Evangelion, etc), Akira (the manga itself is finished and was published post-film, but the actual film only covered the first half of the manga), Kaze no Stigma (manga auther passed away in 2009 if I recall), and I'd say D.Gray-man could be considered unfinished as well.

No Game No Life, Blood Lad, and I'm pretty sure Strike the Blood, also Bleach never ended anime wise.
