Veracrypt encrypted file container vs full disk encryption - SIM-2053312 - Apr 2, 2017 I have a veracrypt encrypted file container because I didn't know how to do the full disk encryption one. Which one is better for security? I put all my things that I want hid in my file container. * - Riggs - Apr 2, 2017 Problem is, any files containing sensitive data that you write to the HDD outside the container are vulnerable. Even when you create them, copy them into the encrypted container and then delete them, those originals created on the non-encrypted partition can still be forensically recovered. You can still work safely using just a container, but you must remain mindful of this problem. * - SIM-2053312 - Apr 2, 2017 (Apr 2, 2017 04:06 PM)Riggs Wrote: Problem is, any files containing sensitive data that you write to the HDD outside the container are vulnerable. If you can't crypt them as "OS partition", just crypt them with the normal process and decrypt them manually or make a favorite list to mount them each time veracrypt is opened. |
