Code Geass for sure. Outstandinly written story about an ambitious young man who seeks revenge for the death of his mother by destroying the "evil" and "corrupt" Britanian Empire.

I like the story and the character development mostly. I think the show handles some serious topics which I always appreciate in an anime. When watching it the first time it can be somewhat boring during some episodes, but in my opinion it's all worth it towards the end when you really get emotionally invested and the climax hits.

Too many close choices but probably Golden Boy - https://myanimelist.net/anime/268/Golden_Boy - was one of the first I ever watched and still think it is probably one of the best I have ever watched.
