How I went from G2 to Plat 4 with Plat 2 MMR by following these guidelines. - Chad ThunderCock - Apr 9, 2017

So some of you may have participated or seen a few of my threads about a week ago such as:

Where I was pretty much tilted because I couldn't carry out of G2-G1.

So I had a really good game and I tried to think exactly why I had such a great game and why I carried so hard, after finally figuring it out I managed to go from G2 to Plat 4 with Plat 2 MMR in only 3-4 days.

Currently got 68% winratio in my last 20 games & had 80% winratio 2 days ago. (Games are becoming harder and my duo was a bit tilted a couple days ago)

I still bring ignite top lane 99% of the time as it statistically has higher winrate across all ranks + it allows me to split push better & force at least 2-3 people to come get me when split pushing.

General Guidelines:
- Avoid Risky plays.

There's literally no point in doing risky plays unless you're WAY too behind. At this point if there's little to no hope of winning go for the risky plays such as baron steals and shit, if you're winning or in an even game just don't try them.

- Punish enemy mistakes, do not force them.

Don't try to force your enemy into making a mistake, especially during laning phase, on higher elos most people will know when you're baiting & odds are so is he. If you know you can stun the enemy and kill him and he still goes for it then the jungler is most likely there with him.

This obviously doesn't apply if you know where the enemy jungler is, as such it becomes a zero risk play if you're confident.

- Counter jungle a lot even as a laner.

One of the methods I found easiest to carry with is by counter jungling.

Example:
You're playing top lane & pushing your enemy top laner into under his turret. Enemy graves ganked mid lane and went back to his top side jungle.

Move as if you're going to ward the bush to prevent a gank and go on his jungle and try to score a kill on him. Most junglers aren't full HP when clearing the jungle + they're generally not that strong early game (although I do play strong duel champions). This will not only help your laning phase but also set back the enemy jungler A LOT.

Example 2:
You're playing top lane again & you're pushing your enemy top laner into under his turret.

It's ~3 minutes and enemy jungler still didn't gank anything.

Once again move as if you're going ot ward the bush & go into his jungle, at 3 minute mark he's probably doing blue or the frog, resulting in either a forced flash thus reducing gank efficiency or in a free kill + double buff for you.

- Play to die less not to kill.

It's better if you die only 2-3 times and kill 4-7 times than dying 8 times and killing 12 people.

Dying a lot means you're over comitting & making a lot of mistakes, play safer, look for the correct positioning in teamfights, know when to dodge, when to commit, when to leave & when to peel.

Dying up to 5 times in a game is generally "okay" anything above that means you made A LOT of mistakes.

There's some more stuff to go about but it's hard to explain, to be honest following the die less, counter jungling & punishing enemy mistakes guidelines it really boosted my MMR & winrate from 35-40% to an average of ~70-75%.

PS: Forgot to mention one important thing.

If you're ahead by a decent marging, unless you killed the enemy jungler, DO NOT force baron. It may result in a throw and thus a steal / possible comeback. If you're ahead just force your lead into 0 risk objectives like turrets & inhibitors.

If you're even & the enemy has a small lead or better teamfight potential, getting a kill even if not on the jungler you may try to get baron as it can possibly win you the game. I don't usually recommend it as it becomes a high risk play and I genuinely believe that with the right mindset & positioning every single teamfight is winnable even with a weaker late game / teamfight comp.

Great guide, I'm not the best of League players and I'm trying to climb from Bronze. I'm going to follow this advice and see where it takes me!
