Unable to reset PC to factory settings - Power8 - Apr 9, 2017 I want to delete everything on my PC to start over and whenever I go to reset to factory settings, It tells me I am missing files and need an installation disc to continue. I don't have an installation disc and I need to reset my PC soon, I am on windows 8.1 currently and I have no idea what to do now. Please help me if possible. * - Narrate - Apr 9, 2017 Well it seems you're missing files and are in need of the installation disk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ * - Power8 - Apr 9, 2017 (Apr 9, 2017 05:10 PM)Narrate Wrote: Well it seems you're missing files and are in need of the installation disk. This is the most irritating reply ever lol but seriously, is there any alternative I can use to reset my PC? * - rsx - Apr 9, 2017 Make a bootable USB, then just boot from the USB. Here's the microsoft program to do that: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15088/windows-create-installation-media * - Seaking - Apr 9, 2017 (Apr 9, 2017 05:14 PM)Wuss Wrote: This is the most irritating reply ever lol If you have a windows CD key I believe Microsoft will let you download an ISO (or just find an ISO from another website / source) Install that ISO to a disk or usb flash drive. Then run it. Have it do a fresh install and after everything is over delete the windows.old file (I can't remember if windows 8 leaves a .old file or not) * - Deany - Apr 9, 2017 Try resetting it from the BIOS see if that will do it * - thijsjuhhh - Apr 10, 2017 Could you be a little more specific? Is it a desktop of a notebook? It is OEM (if so, brandname please) or did you build it yourself? * - oop - Apr 10, 2017 Try smacking the ISO onto a USB and making it bootable, then boot from it and overwrite the old OS. hope you can resolve this any problems pm me and ill try and help * - Breeze26509 - Apr 10, 2017 Open a Command Prompt as Adminstrator and do sfc /scannow Restart when it's done and then continue what you were doing. * - Roberto Scorpius Malfoy - Apr 10, 2017 I did this a few days ago. I can help you over skype if you want. (You need a USB stick) |
