Keyboard for speed typing - Miar - Apr 25, 2017 I am currently vying for the world record in typing the alphabets in the fastest time. The time I clock is done by using a laptop keyboard and the key presses overlap sometimes because of typing fast and I was considering getting a mechanical keyboard. I have already broken all regional records in this aspect and am just trying to push over the boundary to get that coveted Guiness Book of World Records title. Could anyone suggest a good keyboard I could buy. Thanks in advance. I didn't know where to exactly pose this question so I thought Miscellaneous would be my best bet. * - Fortunate - Apr 25, 2017 Well from my experience mechanical keyboards are very easy to type with, go with that! * - Miar - Apr 25, 2017 (Apr 25, 2017 12:05 PM)Fortunate Wrote: Well from my experience mechanical keyboards are very easy to type with, go with that! Basically. It all comes down to aesthetic and personal preference, just get one you think looks cool lmao they're all the same more or less. * - Helaugh5 - Apr 27, 2017 There are different switches but it usually boils down to personal preference. For example, the Cherry MX Red switch requires little force to be activated and doesn't give much tactic feedback, while the Cherry MX Blue switch requires more force and also clicks when activated. You can check here http://www.keyboardco.com/blog/index.php/2012/12/an-introduction-to-cherry-mx-mechanical-switches/ to see which switch would be best for you. * - EliteTM - Apr 27, 2017 Well, look into MX Cherry switches. Cherry makes many different types of mechanical keyboard switches. Generally I'd say, if you need a switch that'll perform best when your typing for the most accurate and fastest. Get Cherry MX Blues or MX Browns (I believe one of the typing competitions Das Keyboards held, the winner used MX browns). The benefit of these two types of switches (they're are other similiar ones, but we'll stick to these two for now), is that they have a bump when your typing. This bump, you can train your fingers to press just enough for the bump and then let up (if that makes and sense). Allowing you to not have to press all the way down (this is called bottoming out). The difference between MX Blues and MX Browns is that Blues are very clicky and loud (which some people like). MX Browns are much more quieter, while still giving you the bump a lot of typist like. I personally live by MX Blues, but that's just me. I'd recommend getting a switch tester first so you can test out generally all the common switch types and see what you like and don't like. |
