Posters (Uni Work) - Mister Slyther - Apr 28, 2017

So in 2-3 weeks my final hand-ins are due for the year (foundation year in graphics) and it's been challenging. Next year is first year.

Anyways here is my first concept, there are other 2 that I still need to do.

These are going to be printed A2 Sized at 300 DPI of course.

Your poster is aiming to kindle nostalgia in its viewers to drive sales ('remember this'), but I'm not feeling much nostalgia. The reason is that your design strays, in my opinion, too far from Snake's simple look and feel. Two colours. Minimal directions of movement. Your diagonal text and pretty pastel background do nothing to help arouse nostalgic feelings, because they're so divorced from the original style of Snake: snakes can't move diagonally, and the game wasn't colourful. I would've stuck to a super rigid grid pattern (could've done some really fun things with snake-like grid typography) and gone for a more 8-bit, pixellated style using louder versions of the original colour scheme. It's a pretty design, but imho it's not a good design for its purpose.

Also, just as an aside I think your 'Nokia' and the website link need slightly larger margins around them.

If you were aiming for some sort of isometric/angular perspective with the text, it didn't work. It just looks like slanted text. So you could work on that.

Other than that it's not too bad. I've submitted worse work for 2nd year B.Sc.
