[META] Please stop closing threads - (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━━┻ - May 2, 2017

Discussion is a key part to forums. If you have a question about something, chances are somebody else does as well. Even if you get your answer, keep the thread open in case somebody else has a follow up question to it.

This should not be here but I like it and agree. Don't remove them!

Yeah I know but this is specifically applying to this forum.

Closed != Junked
Closed threads still appear in the search bar.

The advantage of closing threads when the question has been answered is that it leaves no room for grave digging with useless replies.
I understand your argument and it would be a really good point if everyone always checked the time at which a thread was made and only posted things that contributed to the thread or unanswered questions. As it is right now, that's not the case.

Gravedigging is very rarely an issue in this section though.

Agreed. So many times, I've written an answer complete with code, an explanation, and an example, only to find that someone posted a half-assed answer and the OP closed the thread.

That rarely happens, or if it does, doesn't warrant another thread.

* - Mαxim - May 3, 2017

I kind of agree, this goes for many other sections. Threads could be re-used many more times instead of being closed.

Not only should this apply to Python, but everywhere. With the exception of buyers bay, or generally any market place thread.

Haha thanks for raising this issue, it can be quite annoying. 😭
