How do I downgrade my Business PayPal account to a standard one? - Purest. - Jun 23, 2017
Before dissing me to go to paypal forums or support to help me out with this I'm only asking this question here because what I'm trying to do might have been a violation of their principles and I want advice from people who have had experience with paypal before.
So apparently last year I upgraded my paypal account to a business one as I thought that would allow me to share my funds with other credit cards like my partners as well as the ability to be able to spoof my name to prevent doxing.
I was reading today that to setup a paypal business account you must have an ACTUAL registered business, but the one I set on my paypal name is just unregistered officially (although I own a domain name of it but still)
Now I want to downgrade my account to a standard one because IF paypal limits me in the future and asks for business paperwork and stuff, I will have nothing to provide, how do I go about contacting paypal to help me out with this WITHOUT them limiting my account for violating their principles.
I'm sure a bit of social engineering might come in handy here? Thanks HF. 🤝

Call them. I had a business account without being a registered business. They don't care. Just tell them you need to downgrade to a personal account.

If your business is ongoing/legit, another option would be to just register it..

Wouldnt you just be able to create a personal account? Or did you upload your cc/bank account etc on the business one? They can certainly limit you for not having a registered business. They did it too me lol

Just send their support a email, done this before. They switched my PP back to personal within a couple days.

Just be honest and tell them that you shouldn't be a business account and you never recall registering as one. Explain it to them, they should understand.
I was somehow registered as business aswell before without knowing and I was asked to prove my business after 4-5 years, and I was screwed.

Here is what I emailed them:
Hello, I had upgraded my paypal account to a business account quite some time ago when I had a small home-based business, I would like to downgrade my account to a personal or standard one as there have been personal issues regarding that business and I don't want it to be linked with paypal anymore since I might be shutting it down soon.'
and withing 10 mins I didn't even realise it they downgraded it 🎉🎉🎉
