What's the best way to speed up my computer for more FPS? - Copywriter - Jun 24, 2017 So, I occasionally play games and I get like 40-50 FPS in Minecraft, 14-20 FPS in Garry's mod and around 30 FPS in CSGO. What can I do to speed up some more FPS, I've tried clearing the temp files which didn't really do anything, also tried using Game Boosters such as Razor Cortex. Nothing really seems to work, btw all my settings are low on my PC. I only have 150$ saved up in BTC only at the moment as well. Note that my computer is around 7 years old and unfortunately I'll be having this for another year most likely since I'm not rich and spoiled. Specs: ![]() Dxdiag ![]() Thanks! * - Strafe - Jun 25, 2017 I currently can't see the images, This post may also be better suited in the Hardware Section. Most of those "Game Boosters" are usually just BS and end up possibly making it worse. It sounds like you need a Graphics Card, and likely a general upgrade in hardware. I would also suggest researching about computer maintenance a bit more instead of relying on an application. * - Copywriter - Jun 25, 2017 (Jun 25, 2017 03:11 AM)Strafe Wrote: I currently can't see the images, This post may also be better suited in the Hardware Section. Anyway I could change up some settings in my PC for a better performance? I don't really have much at the moment in order to purchase some new parts. * - Strafe - Jun 25, 2017 (Jun 25, 2017 01:13 PM)Copywriter Wrote: Anyway I could change up some settings in my PC for a better performance? 1. Close all background applications running that are not needed, EX: Chrome/Anti-Virus/Bloatware...etc 2. If running on a HDD can try plugging a USB/SD card in for ReadyBoost. 3. Change Power Plan to "High Performance". 4. Run a Ethernet cable directly to the PC instead of WiFi. (More for Lag than performance) 5. Play around with windows settings such as background applications/visual effects. (Turning these off) 6. If running off a HDD, Defragment drive. 7. Schedule tasks for a time when you're not gaming. That's all that's coming to me for now, Aside from that you're ideally going to want to save up for a GPU such as 1050Ti, then later on possibly an SSD or CPU+RAM+MotherBoard upgrade. * - datguy.dev - Jun 25, 2017 Being new parts or a build is out of the question... I believe most of the games you've specified will run under steamOS or Linux(Ubuntu specifically). Linux doesn't have nearly the overhead as Windows, so you may get a few FPS there. But you can only polish a turd so much. :) Maybe overclocking if you have a good mobo and cooler. Its a bit game specific, but an SSD can help with games like minecraft when it comes to loading chunks. * - Copywriter - Jun 25, 2017 Probabsly going to get a Nvidia 1050ti, do you guys think that would increase the FPS quite a bit? It's going to be the only replacement though. * - Strafe - Jun 25, 2017 (Jun 25, 2017 08:42 PM)Copywriter Wrote: Probabsly going to get a Nvidia 1050ti, do you guys think that would increase the FPS quite a bit? For EX: Overwatch on my I7-3770 Intergrated Graphics - FPS:30-60 Overwatch on I7-3770 with 1050Ti - FPS: 120-150. * - Copywriter - Jun 25, 2017 (Jun 25, 2017 09:21 PM)Strafe Wrote: If your running on integrated graphics/APU, then yes that should be a massive upgrade/replacement. What's integrated graphics? * - Strafe - Jun 25, 2017 (Jun 25, 2017 09:28 PM)Copywriter Wrote: What's integrated graphics? It means the graphics are built into the CPU. Googled it and got a good description for you: "There are two types of graphic processors: discrete and integrated. A discrete GPU (short for graphic processor unit) means that there is a separate processor for anything related to graphic work whereas an integrated GPU means that it shares resources with the CPU to do graphic work. Install speccy and show a pic of it. * - Copywriter - Jun 25, 2017 (Jun 25, 2017 09:44 PM)Aggron Wrote: 'since I'm not rich and spoiled.' What do you mean? Are you saying I should just get a whole new PC or replace my graphics card? |
