Need help with a Python RSS feed reader - streetlawkarma - Jun 29, 2017

I'm trying to figure out how I can make a RSS feed reader that can take a huge list of RSS feeds, like this:

website.com/rss
website.com/rss
website.com/rss
website.com/rss
x100000 etc

-------------------------
But I need to have a GUI where I can input keyword groups to filter the feeds, so that when I click the keyword group it shows a list of new feeds that can be right clicked or something and be opened in an external browser.

------------------------------

I have been using a piece of software called feeddemon, but it crashes too easily when importing an XML file, so I need something that can just read one huge list from a text file or something as opposed to having to import a huge XML file.

The other thing about Feeddemon is that it scanned through the feeds to slow, so I need something that can go through the feed list quickly (and be able to set the thread count or something)

Is this doable?

Of course this is doable. But if you don't have any experience in Python it is going to take some time to learn:
> Python basics (control flow, functions, classes, ..) I'd recommend watching thenewboston on YT and just reading tuts online. Python is pretty simple syntax-
wise.
> GUI programming in Python . I'd recommend Kivy or Tk
> Threading to execute many tasts simultaneously.
> RSS parser
Keep in mind though, that Python isn't known for it's speed. I don't know about feeddemon - maybe it's just crap - but I doubt Python would be faster. If you're going for speed consider C/++ or even Java. If you don't have any programming experience these languages will be a lot harder to get a grip of.
