windows 10 truecrypt - TheArchitect - Jul 18, 2017

I have to reinstall everything? Like a new clean windows 10 before i use truecrypt or i can use my fully system without losing any data i already have on it ?

I have an ssd of 250gb and a hdd. Can i use truecrypt?

Can use it to encrypt partitions or create containers, so OS is somewhat irrelevant. Will obviously need an existing OS to run the binaries though. If you're intending to use TrueCrypt with your SSD, I recommend reading up about TRIM so you understand how data is written to flash memory. There are associated security risks to consider when encrypting data already written in the clear on SSDs.

Also, would recommend VeraCrypt over TrueCrypt as it uses SHA256.

So i have to encrypt my hdd first then my ssd?

Doesn't really matter which order you do it in, but you'll obviously need to be using the Windows 10 OS at the time to run the executable. VeraCrypt and TrueCrypt can both encrypt the OS inside a full-disk container. Just choose Full Disk Encryption when you run it.

Once it's finished your OS will boot like normal but you'll be prompted for the encrypted container decryption key first.
