2FA Users, Gauth or Authy? [poll] - Silver Fang - Jul 28, 2017 Okey, I'm not here to say that neither are better than the other because there is cons and pros to both. However i do find Authy to be a bit more friendly for all-around access, the big thing that Authy provides which Gauth(Google Authenticator) doesn't is the ability to use more than one device in order to get the codes. Sadly this is also a con for some due to the fact that it's a "less" secure way. But I'm trying to find a conclusion but it's hard, because with Authy you can install it on the PC which is handy as fuck and also be sure to never lose the access. But with Gauth you'll be more safe because it's only on 1 device and that's a smartphone based on your number. I find it more logical to lose access to the phone than to get hacked on every device, this is different for everyone of course. Anyway, what do you guys feel about the two which goes in favor of you? * - Deany - Jul 28, 2017 I use authy with backups so if my laptop ever dies i just open my phone and bam i'm back in EzPz * - Silver Fang - Jul 28, 2017 (Jul 28, 2017 11:38 AM)Japanese Wrote: I use authy with backups so if my laptop ever dies i just open my phone and bam i'm back in EzPz Yeah, that's the thing... Damn, should have added the option "I don't know" for the poll. * - Deany - Jul 28, 2017 (Jul 28, 2017 11:40 AM)Silver Fang Wrote: Yeah, that's the thing... My phones don't last more than a couple of weeks without being shattered or broken to death, even with a case. It was always a pain in the ass using Gauth for me. * - Silver Fang - Jul 28, 2017 Question; If you use Authy do you use the Chrome extension/addon or the client for windows which is in BETA phase? * - Jak! - Jul 28, 2017 (Jul 28, 2017 12:00 PM)Silver Fang Wrote: Question; If you use Authy do you use the Chrome extension/addon or the client for windows which is in BETA phase? Nah, I use just the phone app. * - Riyu - Jul 28, 2017 Authy. I have the client and the app on my phone with backup enabled. * - Silver Fang - Jul 28, 2017 (Jul 28, 2017 12:02 PM)Ri yu Wrote: Authy. By username and login on their page? I do have Authy on my phone, however i can't remember putting a password :o Maybe a pin was used, damn can't recall. * - Alex - Jul 28, 2017 Authy is more user friendly imo. I had Gauth on my old phone that died. Did not have the backup code to my accounts linked to Gauth is long gone. |
