Fork explained - How to claim your BCC after 1st August! - Hiper - Jul 30, 2017 I have been reading a lot of information on the best ways of claiming your BCC and decide to post this to help users out. Personally I think having access to you private keys is the best way. Some of the wallets that support private keys are Jaxx (mobile), Electrum (pc) there are a lot more available, you can search for them on google. After 1st August follow these steps for the safest way to claim your BCC 1) Before 1st August Make sure your BTC is in Electrum or Jaxx wallet or any other wallet that stores private keys (Wallet A). 2) After a successful split (wait for the news to confirm) Install another Wallet and transfer your BTC to (Wallet B). This can be any wallet of your choice. 3) Make sure to wait for BTC to confirm in Wallet B. Wallet A should now be empty, but there should be hidden BCC inside it which is linked to your private keys. 4) Export the seed from Wallet A (private keys), install any BCC wallet and import the seed from Wallet A into BCC wallet. This way no one can gain access to your BTC private keys when you import them into the new BCC wallet. I would advise waiting for some articles to come out before doing this as there might be complications and the last thing you want is to lose your BTC The second option is not as safe in my opinion however it's likely to work out. All you need to do is trasfer your BTC to an exchange like kraken that supports BCC and you will get them automatically. All exchanges and wallets that support BCC can be found here bitcoincash.org If you don't want BCC, then you don't need to do anything. Just keep your BTC in your wallet and don't send it anywhere between 31st July and 1st August. Hope this will help some users. * - RUMRUN - Jul 30, 2017 If I'm correct you don't even need to transfer to Wallet B? Just have the public and private key in your possession and you're fine? If it's a bland copy of the BTC blockchainhistory why would a transfer be necesary here? Correct me if I'm wrong. * - RS7™ - Jul 30, 2017 Wonderfully written and structured, I've been very concerned about this split but thankfully this has helped me so I don't have to worry about losing funds no more :) * - Asileux - Jul 30, 2017 Thanks for this thread man. :) * - Hiper - Jul 30, 2017 (Jul 30, 2017 09:42 AM)Lil Uzi Bert Wrote: If I'm correct you don't even need to transfer to Wallet B? That's why you need to trasfer first to avoid any risk of anyone attempting to scam your coins as you can never be sure that the BCC wallet is trustworthy. * - Kill Joy - Jul 30, 2017 BCC is very unlikely to ever take off. UASF has 100% support with less than 2 days to go until official lock-in. * - Hiper - Jul 30, 2017 (Jul 30, 2017 04:00 PM)Kill Joy Wrote: BCC is very unlikely to ever take off. I would rather own my private keys and claim BCC even if nothing happens as I don't lose anything that way. If they are worth something in the near future you will shot your self in the foot by not doing this. * - cash.py - Jul 31, 2017 Thanks for explaining this * - DuguWudi - Aug 1, 2017 This explain the offline wallet what about online wallet that support bcc split, do I have to do anything after the split or left the both balance stay as it is after the split in the online wallet? Any security step for online wallet that support the split after the split? * - Hiper - Aug 1, 2017 (Aug 1, 2017 12:08 AM)DuguWudi Wrote: This explain the offline wallet what about online wallet that support bcc split, do I have to do anything after the split or left the both balance stay as it is after the split in the online wallet? If your wallet supports BTC and BCC for example like freewallet, you don't need to do anything just wait for the wallet to credit your BCC. Similar to how supported exchanges would do it. * - DuguWudi - Aug 1, 2017 (Aug 1, 2017 12:48 AM)H1P3R Wrote: If your wallet supports BTC and BCC for example like freewallet, you don't need to do anything just wait for the wallet to credit your BCC. Nice to hear, I'm currently using cex.io. * - Charlie Kelly - Aug 1, 2017 So if i'm holding BTC in Poloniex at the moment, it will automatically converted to BCC come the split? * - Hiper - Aug 1, 2017 (Aug 1, 2017 02:00 AM)Charlie Kelly Wrote: So if i'm holding BTC in Poloniex at the moment, it will automatically converted to BCC come the split? No poloniex are not supporting BCC at this current moment and will not issue you your coins unless they have announced orherwise recently. I would avoid storing any btc in an exchange during the fork. * - SIM-1674657 - Aug 1, 2017 No point in transferring your BTC to another wallet even if you have security concerns. All major BCC wallets are open source and made by trusted community members, so stealing your keys is about as realistic as being raped by a woman. * - Hiper - Aug 1, 2017 Looks like a lot of places have announced that they will be issuing BCH (BCC) to the users last minute. I believe bittrex and Jaxx will issue BCH if you had funds during the fork. Jaxx - link If you had your btc in one of those places all you need to do is wait for BCH to be added to your account. |
