Installed Ubuntu on flash drive. Further help - GreyGhost91 - Jul 31, 2017 Hello community. In need of some help. So I have a 32gb flash drive, I have loaded Ubuntu onto the flash drive and have booted into the Linux OS. I have proceed with the option of trying the OS without installing. My goal is to install the OS onto my flash drive, not my Mac OS. When I tried to go through the install process it's asking me to flash my Mad hard drive. I definitely don't want to do that. Is it possible to fully install the Unbuntu on my flash drive only? If so what options do i need to do. I didn't see a directory to save the OS on my external drive. Any and all help be greatly appreciated! * - MadZ - Jul 31, 2017 I've never done it but a quick Google search brought me to: https://askubuntu.com/questions/170454/can-i-install-ubuntu-to-my-32-gb-usb-pen-drive http://www.fernhilllinuxproject.com/guidesandhowtos/installubuntutousbdrive.html * - GreyGhost91 - Jul 31, 2017 thank you, ill try it. just the steps i use when i googled it never pan out.i really appreciate your help * - Mous - Jul 31, 2017 I think there are like MBRs for flash drives that you can't repartition them to host an OS. I tried this years ago but all I remember is messing around with g parted and learning that it's more complicated than it sounds |
