Steve's Goals Thread - Track my Progress and Make Your Own! - Steve - Aug 1, 2017 Most Recent Update
Link to my own progress Steve List of other users who have made a Goals Thread Valor. Note: There's a tldr; section at the bottom for the lazy. Hello all, Whenever I would be nearing the end of a tough semester, I would write down (and by that I mean type up) all of the assignments, tests, papers, deadlines, etc that I needed to complete in order to finish the semester. Being able to actually visualize all of what I needed to do (and by when) helped me because I could actually see the light at the end of the tunnel and gave me a much more clear idea of what I needed to do to succeed. It was also motivating to watch things get crossed off the list as I completed them. I've been meaning to write down some goals I had in order to achieve the same affect but I've really been procrastinating. I ran into this thread yesterday, which inspired me to explicitly write down my goals. As the OP mentioned later in the thread: (Aug 1, 2017 12:22 AM)James! Wrote: Another beneficial thing, especially when you write them down on something such as a forum, you will have people who see your goals and people will encourage you and this will make you want to do then[sic] more. I really liked this because he was right. Posting my goals on the forum felt much more meaningful than simply in my Google Doc. So not to ramble too much, here's what I'm going to do. In this thread I'm going to write down my goals for the end of 2017 and end of 2018. The format may change a few times until I figure out what works. Whenever I make threads the OP is usually pretty lengthy and people lose interest, but this thread is mostly for me and to hold myself accountable. I want to leave it open for feedback and encouragement (although I don't expect too many replies), but I also want to be able to filter out replies that aren't mine so that I can view my progress easily as I make update posts, so I'll post the link to my own replies at the top of the thread. This way people can reply with thoughts, ideas, and encouragement, and others who just want to see my own posts can do so. Also, if you want to do this I suggest making a variety of goals - anything you can think of. Not just school, work, or money related, but anything. Goals could range from getting a new car or quitting smoking in 2 years to simply passing a test next week. Large or small they all matter and if you need to you can start small and work up. When you're done you can post thread link in your signature to encourage others to hold you accountable to your goals. If you want to participate this is how I recommend you do it:
So without further ado here are my current goals: Short-Term Goals:
By the end of 2017 I'm hoping/expecting to:
By the end of 2018 I'm hoping/expecting to:
These are the goals I have currently. I may start adding more short-term goals in order to update the thread more frequently. In the end, I encourage you all to write down your goals. Writing them down and looking at them over and over is extremely motivational and helpful. I even did a Google search for you so you can read on the topic here. If you're feeling up to it you can create a thread like mine and do what I'm doing here. Don't worry about the replies, just do it for yourself. Posting it here makes it public and holds you to a higher standard of accountability. To avoid all of the rambling you can just post your goals and link to my thread if anyone wants to read the backstory - this will make your thread more concise and thus have a higher chance of getting posts. Linking it in your signature would probably help immensely. I hope to see some of these threads pop up by other users. I know a lot of you are younger but it doesn't matter what goals you make. Just set some and achieve them. Start small if you can't think of something. Do it for yourself because your life is a project and you can never stop building yourself. Thanks for reading if anyone did, I'll try to think of more short term goals and keep this updated as often as possible. ~Steve tldr; This thread is for me to publicly track my life's progress. It is a blog/diary of sorts. Writing down your goals greatly increases your chances of achieving them [SOURCE], and I feel especially motivated by the fact that I'm doing this on a public forum and not in a private document. If you want you can track my progress above by clicking the link to filter out other users' posts (not applicable yet because this is the first post, so for now you can see my goals above). I will add more short-term goals to keep this thread updated as frequently as possible. I encourage you to do this as well. If you want to you can read the entirety of this thread as I explain how I think it will work as efficiently as possible. Thanks for reading and feel free to subscribe if you want a notification when I post an update! * - Toro. - Aug 1, 2017 Be in a relationship or working toward on Be in a serious relationship why? * - RRRaptor - Aug 1, 2017 I'm extremely happy to see this, Steve! I need to work on finishing my degrees before I focus on starting pilot training, but I can't wait! I will let you know if I need advice :) EDIT: Just realized I shouldn't really reply too much on this, as that kind of breaks my mechanism of easily tracking my progress by viewing my own posts. I'll try to keep replies to a minimum :) * - Toro. - Aug 1, 2017 (Aug 1, 2017 12:59 PM)Description Wrote: That's kinda dumb to ask why someone wants something everyone has their own reasons "everyone has their own reasons" YES.
