Why does my MP3 player sound better than laptop? - Tron40 - Aug 16, 2017

I have an old MP3 player that I bought around 10 years ago, and have been copying songs to it from my laptop. Then I hook an audio cable between its headphone jack and the "audio input" on my home stereo. It sounds good!

Lately, I hooked up my laptop to the stereo the exact same way using the same audio cable. I noticed that the music doesn't sound the same when doing it that way. The louder, or more climatic parts of the songs actually do sound louder and have more "punch" when played through the MP3 player. But when played through the laptop, the sound is more flat throughout. I believe this is relating to the "dynamic range" if I understand the term correctly. Not sure why it would be different if both devices have their own volumes turned all the way up, and I'm using the same audio cable and am playing the same music file.

Are there settings in the computer that can be adjusted to get the actual dynamic range of a song when playing it from my laptop? I'm using Windows 10.

I did a google search for it and all I found was something called DFX Music Player Enhancer Pro which costs 2.99. Is that the one you're talking about? I couldn't find one called "DFX Speakers".
Here's the one I found: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fxsound.android.dfxplayer.full&hl=en

EDIT: I did find one called DFX Speakers "Crack". Is that the one? https://docs.google.com/document/d/1N_RRBvTugT7hH5lelnOAGz4dHfnjCRagas887FwBmXM/edit

Thanks! I actually did download the second one, which I guess is a virus. Oops! At least I haven't opened it. I'll delete it right away.
I take it then that there are no adjustments that already exist in Windows 10 that change the audio output to be the same as what my MP3 player has.

Is this the same thing? The other one cost 2.99 while this one appears to be free. Also, the other one was called DFX Speakers and this one is called DivX and appears to be video software. What I'm looking for is something that allows the sound from my laptop to be the same as if is from my MP3 player when connected to my audio system. The difference seems to be in the audio's dynamic range and I wanted to know if there was a way to adjust that on my computer.
